The successful candidate for this faculty position in the Department of Missiology and Intercultural Ministries (MIM) at Dallas Theological Seminary will assume the full responsibility of a tenure-track teaching professor at the DTS Dallas campus, with the possibility of courses occasionally taught at an external campus. In accordance with the mission of the Seminary and the MIM Department, this individual will seek to prepare godly servant leaders for a lifetime of study, exposition, and application of the Scriptures. MIM Department faculty members support the educational process by not only teaching but also by actively living as missionaries on and around the DTS campus and in the local community, advising students, serving on committees, addressing projects as assigned, and by assisting at strategic events.

Job Duties:

1. Academic Responsibilities

a. Teach a full-time course load (18 teaching hours per academic year).

b. Teach core courses and electives in Systematic and Historical Theology according faculty member’s experience, expertise, and interests as well as departmental criteria and needs. Primary, but not exclusive, teaching responsibilities will be at the Dallas campus.

c. Participate in Distance Education programs, including online education, as assigned to complete teaching responsibilities in accordance with the needs of the department and Distance Education.

d. Make progress toward tenure and promotions as indicated in the Faculty Handbook.

e. Represent the Department and the Seminary in the public square, especially in print and online publications, on social media, in churches, and at conferences.

2. Administrative Responsibilities

a. Attend scheduled departmental, divisional, and faculty meetings.

b. Maintain office hours and availability for student mentoring and advising as assigned.

c. Participate in the annual Faculty Workshop, Convocation, Commencement, and other events as specified by the Academic Dean, the Chairman of the Department of Theological Studies, or the Faculty Handbook.

d. Serve on faculty committees as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Christian Character. Have outstanding character qualities expected of a seminary teacher who will serve as an example for students—reflecting Christlikeness and the fruit of the Spirit as evidenced by a good reputation with the broad body of Christ and positive interpersonal relationships.

2.Formal Education. Have a formal biblical and theological education with a graduate degree in biblical studies, systematic theology, or historical theology (MDiv or ThM preferred) and a PhD or ThD in theological studies or its equivalent.

3.Teaching Experience. Have satisfactory experience in teaching or promise of teaching competence. Significant teaching experience at the graduate (seminary) level preferred.

4. Writing Experience. Have experience in research, writing, presenting, speaking, and publishing in both scholarly and popular levels.

5.Ministry Experience. Have ongoing involvement in local church and other ministry activities and a Christ-honoring reputation in academia and social media engagement.

6.Doctrinal Agreement. Be in full agreement in beliefs, teaching, and writing with the seminary’s doctrinal statement. The candidate must also affirm in beliefs, teaching, and writing the seminary’s statement on marriage and human sexuality; statement on unity, diversity, and community; statement on men and women learning together and statement of educational philosophy.

7.Collegiality. Be able to work collegially as a member of the department and the seminary community, contributing a unique perspective as a member of a diverse team with an attitude of humility.

8.Technological Proficiency. Have some knowledge of and competency in the latest equipment and software for online and remote video conferencing and education, including platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Canvas, LifeSize, etc.
