REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES - The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
• Serves as a leader for projects by coordinating and otherwise involving staff members from multiple organizational units; follows systems development life-cycle techniques, utilizes joint application development processes, employs project management techniques and is knowledgeable about specialized software packages and applications.
• Troubleshoots application errors; isolates problems from symptoms, determines alternatives and develops and implements solutions; works with user community to improve user instructions and training for greater understanding of application functionality.
• Defines the scope and objectives for applications, along with constraints and system requirements; analyzes and defines current organizational functions, processes, sources and uses of information, and other data to determine application needs and requirements.
• Analyzes user business processes and designs applications and solutions to optimize their use of systems; documents work and information flow using organization and data flow charts and other related materials; designs and produces application design specifications and documentation on inputs, outputs, and data structures.
• Designs inputs, including data entry screens, scanner forms and files; designs outputs, including reports, files, and display screens; designs, develops, and implements logical and physical database structures and corresponding internal relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS - The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Examples of ways to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
• Education/Training: Bachelors Degree or 4 years of college with major course work in computer science or a related field.
• Experience: Nine years of increasingly responsible analysis and programming experience. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field may be substituted for four years of related experience.
• License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Position Summary:

The Director of IT Operations and Cybersecurity is responsible for IT Infrastructure, architecture, cybersecurity operations, and service desk operations at EDUCAUSE. The Director consults with colleagues across the association to ensure that technology products and services are purchased, configured, secured, and supported in service of EDUCAUSE member and employee success. The Director of IT Operations and Cybersecurity vets proposed technology projects to ensure secure and efficient integration into existing EDUCAUSE-managed services and infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Infrastructure and Architecture
• Provide leadership and direction in multiple technology domains and project initiatives, including oversight and roadmap development for EDUCAUSE’s Azure architecture.
• Responsible for the overall operation of IT infrastructure, including but not limited to cloud infrastructure, firewalls, endpoint management, storage, file sharing, Google Suite, O365, SaaS phone service, enterprise messaging, and video conferencing.
• Responsible for ensuring that the cloud infrastructure and applications are secure, adhering to relevant industry standards.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining the association’s IT disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) plans.
• Researches, recommends, and implements system infrastructure changes, enhancements, and maintenance within budget constraints and planning for future requirements.
• Provides expertise to the department’s efforts in IT operational and capital budget planning.

Cybersecurity Operations
• In collaboration with the CIO, establishes security standards for EDUCAUSE-managed systems as well as security standards for SaaS vendors.
• Manages and oversees security monitoring systems in areas including, but not limited to:
• Endpoint patch management
• Server patch management
• Server and network device configuration management
• Endpoint security scanning
• Server security scanning
• Anti-malware scanning
• Firewall configuration
• Conversion of all SaaS tools to use Azure AD single sign-on service
• Manages and oversees configuration of Multi-Factor Authentication.
• Manages and oversees security awareness program for association employees including anti-phishing, home network security, and other areas as needed.
• Performs due diligence reviews of potential vendors to evaluate vendor risk
• Works with the CIO to develop a security strategy and roadmap, including standards compliance.

Service Desk & Support
• Applies ITSM service management practices to ensure a consistent, high quality level of support and engagement from all Service Desk employees.
• Works to develop KPIs, capture metrics, and review data regularly to ensure quality customer service and appropriate staffing levels.
• Responsible for Service Desk operations and staffing.
• Sets and enforces standards for SLAs.
• Engages with the department to recommend, implement, and deliver operational efficiencies to realize cost savings.

IT Service Management
• Serves as IT Change Manager for the association, oversees the Change Advisory Board (CAB)
• Applies ITIL-based processes and procedures to service operations
• Champions the use of ITIL-based processes within the department including but not limited to: Change, Incident, Request and Knowledge Management, as well as an enterprise IT service catalog.

Project Management
• Serves as project manager, as needed, for IT projects that require significant infrastructure investments.
• Manages IT Operations staff assigning projects, monitoring progress, resolving problems, conducting performance reviews, and setting goals.
• Works collaboratively with IT vendors and/or contractors that EDUCAUSE conducts business with on projects.

Budget Management and Sustainability
• Participates in the annual budget process, working with the CIO and the IT management team to build annual budgets for the department.
• Owns budget development and management for cloud infrastructure, productivity and collaboration services, security, and service desk services.
• Effectively and proactively manages resources, both people and dollars, for the maximum benefit of the association, working within the board-approved budget parameters.
• Works collaboratively with the CIO to ensure that projects are within budget, and continually monitor expenditures and to realize cost-savings where possible.

EDUCAUSE Service and Support
• Stays informed on current and developing trends in areas of responsibility to assure that the office is up-to-date by current professional standards.
• Represents EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engages with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way.
• Supports the professional development of others in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE.

The Partner Relationship Manager will oversee product advisory board governance and stakeholder relationships to ensure the long-term viability and influence of CourseGateway with related initiatives both within and outside of EDUCAUSE. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Courseware Supplier Engagement
• Manages outreach to the courseware and instructional tools supplier community.
• Works with suppliers to ensure alignment with the needs of the higher education community, particularly those serving priority populations.
• Explores and cultivates relationships with courseware suppliers.
• Identifies new product suppliers that offer gateway courseware.
• Works closely with the EDUCAUSE Director of Corporate Engagement to ensure CourseGateway supplier relationships are managed within the context of EDUCAUSE Corporate strategy.

Faculty, Institutional, and Partner Engagement
• Engages and coordinates with Every Learner Everywhere and intermediaries in the Foundation’s postsecondary success strategy.
• Maintains responsibility for demand generation and management, program feedback, and communication of program milestones.
• Creates and executes a community engagement strategy.
• Collaborates with the Marketing Manager to establish connections and foster community awareness across the Higher Education landscape.
• Explores and cultivates community partnerships.

Program and Governance Management
• Convenes the Product Advisory Board, including onboarding and ongoing communication.
• Understands the product space and identifies market changes.
• Develops, plans, and manages ongoing engagement of program partners, consultants, and thought leaders during the planning and implementation phases of projects and initiatives.
• Leads all product-level and content-level evaluation strategy and activities.
• Scopes and facilitates revisions to the product-level evaluation rubric and processes.
• Develops and builds out courseware-content-level evaluation framework, rubric and processes.
• Works closely with the CourseGateway Product Manager to manage up-to-date evaluation data from the Product Advisory Board and product suppliers.
• Operationalizes implementation guidance, building and carrying out this part of the CourseGateway.org roadmap while focusing on product recommendations, case studies, and discussion boards.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• At least five years of professional experience in high volume partner relationship management, supplier relations, business development, service owner, or business analyst or a similar role managing partner relationships.
• Minimum of three years of work experience in higher education preferred.
