Professor Timothy Read’s research group at Emory (https://emergent.emory.edu) is seeking a bioinformatics scientist to work on NIH funded research projects in the areas of metagenomics and comparative genomics of bacterial pathogens. This is an opportunity to use your skills to contribute to projects that benefit human health as part of a diverse, collaborative research team and to produce novel, high-quality basic research.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Scientist, Bioinformatics performs a wide range of highly technical and complex bioinformatics procedures.
• Qualification for this position requires demonstrated expertise in designing and developing software, databases, and interfaces for analyzing and manipulating research data applications including expertise with simple programming using Perl/Python or Java, statistical programming, web-development, and database query through SQL.
• This role collaborates with researchers to develop high throughput data processing and analysis capability.
• Directs and guides database searches and the computational analysis of resulting data.
• Provides direct technical support and helps guide, implement, and maintain further improvements to bioinformatics software, databases, and interfaces and works with the entire bioinformatics team to diagnose and fix related issues.
• May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
• Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, biological or physical science and three years of experience.
• Experience prior to achieving the PhD will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in metagenomic and bacterial genomics would obviously be ideal.
• Experience with workflow languages, particularly Nextflow, would be desirable.
• The applicant would be experienced in statistical analysis and would be expected to contribute to publications produced by the research group.
• Duties include running and modifying computational workflows, directing public database searches and the computational analysis of resulting data, providing direct technical support and making improvements to bioinformatics software.

Emory University School of Law seeks to fill a position in bankruptcy law beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. The position is open to entry-level and lateral candidates of all levels of experience. Candidates must have a J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree, and a distinguished academic record. Candidates should have a strong track record and/or show outstanding promise in research in bankruptcy, commercial law, or related fields. Candidates should also have the ability to teach at least the foundational bankruptcy course. Research in the department encompasses a wide array of mechanistic studies aimed at better understanding diverse, fundamental biological processes with potential or established links to human health and disease. The Center for Childhood Infections and Vaccines (CCIV), a joint entity within Emory Department of Pediatrics and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s), invites applications for a tenure eligible position at all faculty ranks, in the broad area of pediatric immunology and infectious diseases (MD, DO, and/or PhD required).

The faculty appointment will be primarily in the Department of Pediatrics within the Emory University School of Medicine. We offer a highly interactive collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as proximity to and collaborations with the Emory Vaccine Center, Emory Lowance Center for Immunology, the Emory National Primate Research Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Candler School of Theology seeks nominations for a senior scholar of New Testament who could join its faculty beginning in Fall 2023. A tenured appointment could be made at the rank of advanced associate professor, full professor, or endowed chair. Strong nominees will be eminent scholars with a record of distinguished publications. They will have demonstrated potential for global intellectual leadership in the field. They will be excellent teachers with a commitment to teaching and mentoring a student body that is diverse with respect to race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, and theological perspectives. They will be ready to join colleagues in service in and beyond the school.

The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in several of Candler’s degree programs, including the MDiv, MTS, and DMin programs. The appointee will have shared responsibility for courses at every level of these programs, from introductory to advanced. The appointee will also join regular faculty rotation in Candler’s Contextual Education program. The Gyr professorship recognizes outstanding achievement in scholarship and teaching in disciplines related to private international law, including international conflict of laws, international economic law, trade, international commercial arbitration and litigation, financial regulation, international business transactions, and other fields relating to private international law. Candidates should have exceptional records in research, teaching, and service and have attained a J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree. The Emory Healthcare Veterans Program (EHVP) in Atlanta, GA, is seeking candidates for a full-time or part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) paid psychological specialist position beginning Summer or Fall 2023. The position can be remote though practice must occur within the state of Georgia. Housed within the Emory University School of Medicine and Emory Healthcare, EHVP is an innovative treatment and clinical research program for post-9/11 veterans and servicemembers struggling with the invisible wounds of war (including PTSD, TBI, anxiety/depression, SUD, MST). Under the direction of Drs. Barbara Rothbaum and Sheila Rauch, we offer traditional outpatient (OP) and novel intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment programs to eligible veterans and servicemembers from all 50 states and U.S. territories at no cost to the individual. Our mission is to provide exceptional evidence-based care for our nation’s veterans and servicemembers, conduct pioneering clinical research to expand the evidence base, and disseminate clinical knowledge and expertise via multidisciplinary training programs and community partnerships.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Coordinates or assists in clinical or research activities related to the psychological evaluation and treatment of patients or research participants.
• Provides psychological, physiological and/or behavioral assessments of patients.
• May conduct tests for cognitive abilities.
• Recruits, screens, and conducts clinical evaluations of potential participants; assists in determining their eligibility to participate in clinical trials.
• Collects, compiles and analyzes data related to various psychological or behavioral studies.
• Extracts statistical data and prepares reports.
• Conducts interviews and schedules regular visits with study participants and their caregivers.
• Educates patients concerning research procedures, investigational devices, and drugs.
• May provide instruction and advice concerning post-study therapy and behavior management.
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation on the delivery of mental health care services for each study participant.
• Makes referrals to mental health professionals or services.
• May dispense medication in compliance with research protocols.
• Maintains required documentation.
• Attends and participates in regular administrative and clinical staff meetings.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.
• The psychological specialist will conduct phone-based diagnostic intake assessments of veterans seeking care with EHVP, present findings at a weekly interdisciplinary case conference, and consult with EHVP clinicians regarding treatment recommendations.
• Assessments focus on the evaluation of PTSD and other psychiatric disorders and include integration of psychosocial and structured clinical interviews (CAPS-5, DIAMOND) with review of self-report data and medical records.
• Assessment training in relevant measures will be provided, as well as training in cultural competence with military populations.
• Weekly individual and group supervision will be provided by licensed clinical psychologist faculty.
• Pay level is competitive and will be determined by degree status and years of experience, including years of practica.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or a related field.
• Two years of directly related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, as well as two years of experience (including practicum training experience).
• The psychological specialist must be located in Georgia.
• The ideal candidate will have prior experience in clinical assessment, use of structured clinical interviews, and differential diagnosis.
