Roles & Responsibilities include:

Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties. May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments. Position will require extensive interface with equipment suppliers/vendors, and with Burns & McDonnell project managers, other engineering disciplines, modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely in various offices in the United States.

Additional responsibilities include:
• Perform and check routine/complex types of calculations and designs using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.
• Design of equipment foundations.
• Structural steel design for pipe racks and other power plant structures.
• Coordinate project design assignments and design teams.
• Develop scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans.
• Preparing engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules.
• Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced staff members.
• Travel to the United States as required and requested to support assignments on projects and overall office needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from accredited program.
• Minimum 4-8years of related experience.
• Software proficiency includes RISA-3D, RISA Foundation, Ram Connection, STAAD.Pro, Navisworks and/or Smart Plant Review.
• Excellent written & verbal communications as well as strong analytical & problem-solving skills are required.
• Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
• Previous consulting engineering experience in power industry is preferred.

Candidate will perform work which involves both conventional engineering practices and complex situations, requiring innovation relative to work practices and procedures.

Multi-disciplined power generation projects require engineers to work in a diverse project team environment and exhibit the ability to develop consensus in identifying the optimum solution to complex problems. These complex assignments require the application of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods. Candidate will be responsible for detailed design through the development of contract specifications and contract administration.Position will require extensive interface with equipment suppliers/vendors, and with project managers, other engineering disciplines, modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely in various offices in the United States.

Following are some specific duties & responsibilities:
• Coordinating project design assignments and design teams;
• Define system requirements, instrumentation and control requirements, and control logic; define system equipment and components required to meet those requirements
• Performing system hydraulic calculations including pump selection, sizing, and application;
• Pipe and valve sizing including selection of appropriate piping materials and valve types for applications;
• Selection of control valve including definition of control valve requirements and datasheets;
• Functional coordination and reviews of detailed pipe routing (by others) for conformance with system design requirements including pipe support selection/placement;
• Developing equipment specifications, technical bid evaluating, procuring, reviewing vendor drawings and factory acceptance testing of mechanical equipment;
• Administer equipment contracts (change evaluation, coordinate schedules, coordinate technical issues)
• Preparing/creating deliverables like process flow diagram, P&ID, valve lists, line list, standard detail sheets for constructing/installation of new or modifications of existing power generating facility mechanical systems;
• Review calculations, drawings and design documents produced by others for conformance with project requirements as well as Company and industry standards
• Providing leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced staff members;
• Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel;
• Supporting development and improvements of department standard work procedures and work flows to support a successful work share approach amongst the various offices for all projects.
• Travel to the United States as required and requested to support assignments on projects and overall office needs.

Qualifications

This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments. Must be capable of interpreting and developing solutions to complex problems. Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program.
• Minimum 4-10 years of related experience in fossil generation with exposure to piping design, pump selection, rotating equipment and process design.
• Software experience utilizing AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Review is preferred.
• Familiar with power industry codes and standards including ASME B31.1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I and Section VIII.
• Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred.
• Proficient in the English language and must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Previous consulting engineering experience preferred.
