The Praxis Series and related assessments are designed to be used principally in connection with other criteria by state authorities for the purpose of licensing education professionals. Test scores used to inform such credentialing decisions must be supported by appropriate validity evidence. ETS employs a comprehensive validation process for this test score use that is consistent with best practices, as recommended by the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. To learn more, review The Praxis Series Validity for Licensing Tests at: http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/PRAXIS/pdf/validity.pdf

Praxis II Raters score the essay or constructed response portions of Praxis II Assessments. Raters are trained to score responses holistically, evaluating candidates knowledge and application of that knowledge.

Required Experience:

Praxis Raters must:
• reside within driving distance of Princeton, New Jersey or Concord, California
• hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree
• have at least 3 years full-time teaching experience within the specific subject area they wish to score
• currently teach in a classroom setting or be out of a classroom setting for no longer than 3 years

Scoring Session Information:

Rater Calibration
Many of the PRAXIS subjects have begun using consequential calibration to ensure accuracy in scoring. A Rater must first pass a calibration test before live scoring begins. If the Rater is unable to assign scores correctly, they will not be permitted to score. In addition, we employ Scoring leaders (highly experienced Praxis Raters who supervise the scoring sessions) who help to ensure that scoring is consistent and accurate.

Training
Raters begin a scoring session with training on each set of questions or items. The items scored are known as constructed responses. The training provides a foundation for established Praxis scoring standards and procedures. This process ensures fair and accurate scoring. If questions arise during training or scoring, scoring leaders are available to provide additional assistance.

Keyword: AP® Reader – PAPER BASED SCORING
Required Experience:

AP Reader eligibility requirements:

College-Level Faculty
AP Readers from colleges and universities must be active faculty members and have taught at least one semester of a comparable AP course as described in the AP Course Description within the past three years.
High School Teachers
AP Readers from secondary schools must currently teach the AP course in a face-to-face classroom setting and have at least three years' experience teaching it unless:
• the AP course is new then teachers must demonstrate comparable expertise and teaching experience
• the AP course is an online AP course taught in a virtual classroom then teachers must have at least three years' experience in teaching the course in a face-to-face classroom setting.

Temporary Work Authorization
Persons who are not legally authorized to work in the U.S. may be eligible for temporary work authorization in an H-1B visa classification for "specialty occupations." For persons selected to receive an invitation to serve as a Reader, ETS may attempt to obtain H-1B work authorization. H-1B visas are employer-specific. In other words, you may not work for ETS with an H-1B Visa obtained for you by another U.S. employer. If you are currently working in the U.S. within an H-1B status obtained by another U.S. employer, ETS must obtain approval of a separate H-1B petition on your behalf in order for you to work for ETS. In addition, we must explore whether persons who are in the U.S. in another visa status can in fact obtain H-1B status with ETS' sponsorship without jeopardizing their current immigration status.

As part of the documentation required to support ETS' petition for H-1B status on your behalf, you are required to submit copies of your relevant degree(s). If your degree is not specific to the AP Exam you are applying to score, you will need to send a copy of your school transcripts. Please prepare to send this extra documentation along with your completed Reader application form.
