The job is an operating console position in a secured/limited access control room environment. The selected candidate must pass a security background review.
Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge And Abilities Preferred
The preferred candidate will possess 5 or more years of electrical utility experience in field operations, substation services, system operations and or power plant operations. It is also preferred that the candidate has a technology related degree with an electrical emphasis or engineering emphasis. All qualifications will be reviewed for the appropriate combination of experience, education and competencies to be selected for this position. Entry level candidates may be considered for this role if their background is complimentary to the competencies required to perform the job. The selected individual must be able to make thoughtful planned decisions in a team environment and also make quick and accurate decisions in a real-time, high-stress and fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will also possess a NERC System Operator Certification or will be expected to obtain NERC System Operator Certification at the Transmission; Balancing, Interchange, and Transmission; or Reliability Operator level within 5 months of employment. The major challenge of this position is to accomplish all facets of essential distribution construction, maintenance and operation activities in a safe and efficient matter without excessive supervision of operations in the field. The incumbent must be a participative change agent, developing and empowering the employees to complete their tasks as required while removing any impediments to that process. An additional challenge is to ensure that all in-service dates are met. The incumbent works within the policies and procedures set forth by the Company, and by the Vice President T&D Operations, Vice President Customer Services, and Engineering. The incumbent also adheres to all provisions of the bargaining unit agreement, the regulations of the two state commissions, the rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, OSHA, the EPA, the National Electric Safety Code, and all applicable state and local laws and regulations. Building & Grounds Helper will be responsible for building and grounds janitorial and basic maintenance functions.
The successful candidate must be able to perform work in varying environmental conditions. Must be available for overtime including days off. Computer knowledge including but not limited to word documents & spreadsheets is required. An excellent work history and safety record is required.

Experience must include documented, satisfactory performance of all standard tasks and responsibilities of a distribution lineman working for a public electrical utility and/or recognized utility contracting company.
