Summary: As a member of the CQI Administrative Team, this position will lead operational responsibilities to organize and execute an efficient meeting planning process for the annual Quality and Safety Conference. Collaborate with multiple ACS based and external teams to provide support on all project functions. May include delivery of content in a hybrid format with live, streaming, and on demand sessions. Must be mindful of timelines, budgets, and quality programs' priorities. This individual will also facilitate communication plans, meetings related to marketing and feedback on analytics. In addition to being a lead for the Quality and Safety Conference, the CQI Operations Lead will be assigned other projects related to the general administration of quality improvement initiatives.
This exempt position will report to the Administrative Director in the Division of Continuous Quality Improvement. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.
Required Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
• At least 2+ years of similar experience managing projects is required.
• Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, with proven ability to work across a matrix department and organization.
• Excellent team player and independent contributor with the ability to analyze situations and propose solutions/recommendations.

Summary: This senior manager level position is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of a wide range of innovative continuing education programs to address the evolving needs of surgeons throughout various stages of their careers. Responsibilities range from developing content with surgeons, marketing educational activities and overseeing complex on-site arrangements, to leading program evaluation efforts. These educational activities may be presented in a variety of formats, such as in-person, remote or hybrid, or entirely on-line and self-directed. Most have extensive syllabi and use sophisticated teaching strategies. Specific areas of responsibility include courses such as the Comprehensive General Surgery Review Course, Clinical Congress General Surgery Review Course, Core General Surgery Review for Residents, ACS Surgeons as Leaders course, the new high-profile Institute for Surgeon Leaders, and other activities. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with surgeon faculty to develop content for a variety of high-quality educational activities, including in-person and on-line courses. Course materials may include extensive syllabi, pre- and posttests, presentations, pre-course readings and post-course activities. Provide guidance to faculty in areas such as needs assessments, development of goals and objectives and educational content, selection of teaching strategies, learner assessment, and program evaluation. Adhere to requirements for offering continuing medical education credit for the activities as appropriate.
• Collaborate with staff in other areas of ACS to complete a variety of responsibilities, such as site selection and hotel contracts, promotional activities and marketing, registration processes, on-site arrangements and details, use of the learning management system, communication with participants, and continuing medical education credit. Promote the course to ensure enrollment, plan for seamless learner experiences whether in-person or on-line, and use participant evaluations to improve subsequent courses.
• Oversee comprehensive and longitudinal program evaluation activities, including evaluation of each activity and monitoring of trends to assist with continuous improvement to ensure high-quality courses, and identification of new, innovative programs for development.
• Work with surgeon experts and VIPs on the new high-profile Institute for Surgeon Leaders being formed to develop innovative longitudinal education activities to support career development of surgeon leaders. Provide senior level manager support for various committees, work groups, and their activities, such as projects addressing communication, non-technical skills, and professionalism.
• Fulfill supervisory and budgetary responsibilities including talent recruitment and growth, promotion of corporate values and goals, and budget development and management using fiscally sound principles.
Required Education and/or Experience:
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• At least 10 years of experience with development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative education and training programs. Must have substantial experience with curriculum design, learner assessment and evaluation of outcomes for highly complex courses (clinical or surgical content preferred).
• Must have experience with state-of-the-art educational technologies, including learning management systems.
• Must possess well-developed project management and staff management skills.
• Must have outstanding written and oral communication skills.

The primary responsibilities of this role are providing daily customer support to clinical chart reviewers, creating online educational content, developing variables and definitions, maintaining program protocols, and performing data validation audits. This role provides guidance and support to participating hospitals to conceive and implement hospital-level quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison to clinical committees and surgical specialty societies and aids in developing new pilot programs and collaboratives.
This exempt position will report to the CQI Clinical Support Team Manager in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 2 days per week in the office/3 days per week remote, planning to move to 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote after Labor Day, 2022.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provides clinical support to clinical chart reviewers regarding clinical inquiries, data definitions, and registry functionality. Participates in daily meetings to review clinical inquiries submitted by clinical chart reviewers. Participates in regular meetings with surgeon leadership to discuss complex clinical issues.
• In collaboration with quality verification staff, assists participating hospitals with implementing the program, interpreting reports, and identifying areas for quality improvement. Through customer feedback, identifies improvement opportunities to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the program.
• Reviews and updates the program documents, including variables and definitions, sampling protocol guidance, and additional resources. Develops new variables in collaboration with other clinicians, surgeon leaders, and surgical specialty societies.
• Collaborates with team members to create, update, and deliver educational content, including initial online training modules and annual certification exams. Produces continuing educational material in the form of video podcasts, programmatic conference calls, monthly education questions, and live conference presentations.
• Conducts data validation audits of participating hospitals to validate the accuracy of the data entered into the registry platforms. Reviews action plans and provides guidance on improving data collection processes based on issues identified during audits.
• Assists with the successful launch and implementation of new initiatives and programs. Participates in user acceptance testing of technical products related to the registry platform. Acts as a liaison to committees and outside vendors/consultants.

Required Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field required.
• Nursing license required or QI/registry related experience.
• Professional certifications in nursing (such as, CNOR, CCRN) or healthcare quality certifications (such as CPHQ) are a plus but not required.
• Two or more years of related experience required. Experience with electronic medical records (EHR) software, such as EPIC and Cerner, is desired. Prior experience working in quality improvement or clinical research is helpful.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
