The Opportunity:

Factorial Energy is seeking a VP of Operations to join our team in our Woburn location. This person will be responsible for performing a number of important roles that enable the CEO and his executive team to enhance their functioning and deliver on business commitments.

In this role, you will:

CEO EFFECTIVENESS

The individual in the position of VP of Operations will be a partner to the CEO and the Executive Assistant to the CEO in effectively planning and utilizing his time and resources.
• Work with the CEO closely to plan his annual schedule to ensure appropriate allocation of time among important business functions and key stakeholders. Ensures that there is the right balance of time spent internally and externally, across locations and constituent groups.
• Prepare the CEO for critical meetings by confirming agendas, participants and desired outcomes and obtaining information in advance to properly prepare the CEO .
• Accompany the CEO in key visits and meetings to stay abreast of current issues and facilitate follow up and resolution.
• Support the CEO communication with the executive team. He/she does not replace direct communication by the CEO but serves as a conduit to obtain information, or guidance from the CEO in a timely manner. He /she will serve as a conduit to bring issues to resolution and to confirm/ and or drive decisions.
• Provide visibility to the CEO on emerging issues that may require his attention. Functions in the role of “ambassador” for the CEO surfacing sensitive issues and serving as the eyes and ears of the organization.

EXECUTIVE TEAM EFFECTIVENESS

The VP of Operations will play an important role in facilitating the executive team process. He/she will work with the CEO to continually refine the company’s governance and decision making processes as well as managing the agendas and disciplined follow-up required following recurring and annual meetings. Among the responsibilities of this position are the following:
• Make recommendations to enhance the governance process of the E-team including developing a RACI or RAPID with the team and establishing a regular cadence of key meetings.
• Make recommendations for E- team learning and team building opportunities in conjunction with the CHRO.
• Establish an annual calendar that lays out critical meetings, required preparation deadlines etc. This would encompass periodic off-site meetings, board meetings, regular meeting cadence, town halls etc. The purpose of this calendar is to bring focus on deadlines, competing initiatives and to drive thoughtful and timely preparation.
• Plan and manage weekly agendas to drive discussion and decision making on both strategic and operational initiatives. Topic reviews should be planned a quarter in advance to ensure appropriate coverage of critical path items.
• Plan the annual strategic planning and goal setting process in partnership with the CEO and the CFO
• Provide leadership in facilitating agenda setting for Board meetings and timely preparation and review of Board presentations, coordinating with the CEO, CFO and CLO. Plan Board dinners and off-sites as required.

LEADERSHIP VISIBILITY AND EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS (This initiative will shift to a CHRO when hired but will initially be a focus of this position)

The VP of Operations will lead the implementation of the leadership visibility plan. This will include:
• Refining the plan as developed and adding or deleting items as execution unfolds and results become available.
• Implementing the plan to include planning, coordinating and monitoring all activities. This may require coordinating a cross- functional team and preparing materials and talking points for executives.
• Planning agendas for town halls and coordinating production of town hall materials as needed ensuring involvement across the company in Tennessee, Orlando and other locations as enabled by technology.
• Assessing effectiveness of the plan and reporting progress to the E-team on a recurring basis

STRATEGIC PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The VP of Operations plays a critical role in partnering with the CEO to ensure progress on the strategic initiatives of the company. Among the responsibilities in this area are as follows:
• Participate with the E-team in the development of the strategic plan. This could include playing the role of documenting a strategic planning process and facilitating the meeting to develop the plan. Based on experience, the incumbent can bring in outside information and external perspective to inform the strategic planning process.
• Develop a process to track strategic initiative progress against agreed upon timelines and metrics. This will include facilitating a regular review process with key players to sustain the momentum needed to drive results. He/she will be responsible for diplomatically raising jeopardies in the plan and bringing those to the attention of the CEO and the E- team.
• Preparing a quarterly update to the Board of Directors on the progress of these initiatives will be within the responsibility of this position.

INDEPENDENT LEADERSHIP OF CEO-INITIATED PROJECTS

The VP of Operations will from time to time be assigned to lead special projects sponsored by the CEO or the E-team. This could include projects that are cross-functional in nature or those that are highly confidential and/or time-sensitive. This could include projects requested by the Board to the CEO or special initiatives that the CEO is leading to further the business results and strategy of the company. In such instances, the VP of Operations would be responsible for scoping out the project, conducting analysis with internal and/or external resources and presenting conclusions and recommendations for review by the CEO.

• Manufacturing of an actual physical product with hands-on experience, strong preference given for lithium-ion battery manufacturing experience

• Expert in pushing the timeline, overcome “challenging” deliverable target
• Project /program management – planning, prioritizing and reporting
• Information Gathering and Analysis- facile with data reporting and analysis
• Strategic and Financial Planning-ability to understand impacts of decisions on short and long term strategy and financials of the company
• Communication Skills- finely honed skills in communicating verbally and in writing. Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
• Multi- tasking- ability to juggle may projects simultaneously without losing focus
• Negotiation Skills- Ability to hear both sides and develop workable solutions. Can compromise without sacrificing results
• Business Acumen- solid knowledge of the business including operations, finance, marketing and human resources.
