FDD seeks a full-time Development Assistant to provide excellent administrative and fundraising support to the development department. This is a Washington, D.C.-based, full-time, in-office position with the potential of hybrid-remote work.

Primary Job Responsibilities Include:
• Administrative Support: Oversee and manage all aspects of gift processing and gift acknowledgements. Maintain an organized filing system of all donation-related paperwork in consultation with the Finance Department. Provide administrative support for special events.
• Database Management: Become immersed in Raiser's Edge and Raiser's Edge NXT through processing incoming data on prospects, donors, and grant-making organizations. Maintain attention to detail in data entry and analysis. Build and update mailing lists for fundraising purposes. Take ownership of the health of fundraising information by periodically cleaning existing data. Maintain best practices in fundraising data collection and maintenance.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Assist the development team with other development-related tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. Experience with Raiser's Edge or another Blackbaud product is preferred, though candidates with experience in other CRM systems will also be strongly considered.
• Ability to work full-time in person in our Washington, D.C. office.
• Proficiency in Microsoft products including Excel and Word.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and juggle multiple deadlines.
• Be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and proactive.
• Desire to learn and grow in the field of non-profit management and fundraising.
• Interest in foreign policy and national security is a plus.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

About FDD's Internship Program

Based in downtown Washington, D.C., the Foundation for Defense of Democracies has a number of fall internship opportunities available. All FDD interns will have the opportunity to participate in a twice-monthly speaker series, which brings high-level DC officials and senior staff members to engage with interns in an intimate setting. FDD interns will be encouraged to build on their academic skills by working closely with senior staff. FDD is also happy to assist students who wish to earn academic credit for this internship. All internships are unpaid.
• During this time, FDD's internship program will move forward with both hybrid and remote internship options for the summer 2023 semester.*

International Organizations Research Intern

The International Organization Program (IOP) is seeking a part-time intern (around 20 hours/per week). The intern will work closely with FDD experts to conduct research for FDD's International Organizations Program, including research into how U.S. adversaries - including China, Russia, Iran, Syria and others - co-opt specific international institutions, arms control and general lawfare. The intern will hone their research skills by diving into developments, funding, management and operations of specific IOs. Those with an interest in foreign policy, the UN and international law are encouraged to apply. A strong applicant requires strong writing, research and communication skills.

Eligibility
• Must have at least a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
• Should have a relevant course of study and have completed coursework in any of the following fields: International Relations, Security Studies, History, Communications, Journalism, International Economics, Political Science. Computer science, and/or a relevant STEM field of study.
• Interns should have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, as well as basic Excel skills.
• Must be able to commit to a minimum of 22 hours per week.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
