Job Summary
Follows established procedures and performs detailed accounting assignments under the direction of senior accounting personnel. • Performs complex business analysis for departmental activities, comparing actual results to budget, calculating budget variances, and analyzing trends as needed.
• Generates and distributes internal/external vendor invoices/credits accurately and timely, promptly reconciles any differences with source data.
• Drives and implements new process changes to run reports, queries, and foster continuous process improvement within the department.
• Assists with special projects, departmental audit activities, serve as a liaison to the University community for specialized issues as needed.
• Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Sr. ADAA). The Sr. ADAA has governance authority for all academic programs including the M.D., Masters in P.A. studies, Ph.D., International Student Program, and the postbaccalaureate Graduate Certificate Program (“the HWCOM Programs”). The Sr. ADAA will coordinate and provide the necessary resources for the continued success of these programs through each Program’s Directors and Associate Deans, fostering a climate of academic excellence, collaboration, team-based approach, and interdisciplinary initiatives to supporting students, and promoting effective and productive working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
We seek a dynamic and visionary leader that will lead, assess, and implement an innovative and coherent strategic plan for the Academic and Student Affairs programs of the HWCOM. The Sr. ADAA will participate in accreditation processes for FIU by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), for HWCOM’s medical education program by the Liaison Committee for Medical Educations (LCME), and for the Master in Physician Assistant Studies Program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of new programs, technology and/or services, and collaborate with academic administrators, the faculty, and the Academic and Student Affairs staff to ensure quality, continuity, innovation, and integrity in academic and student matters. The Sr. ADAA will oversee quality of instruction and course content of all academic programs in the classroom and online; establish priorities for academic program development and for recruiting the key academic leaders necessary to successfully execute the educational goals of the strategic plan; and ensure the efficient assignment of faculty effort to cover the teaching needs of all educational programs across HWCOM. The Sr. ADAA will participate in accreditation processes for FIU by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), for HWCOM’s medical education program by the Liaison Committee for Medical Educations (LCME), and for the Master in Physician Assistant Studies Program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of new programs, technology and/or services, and collaborate with academic administrators, the faculty, and the Academic and Student Affairs staff to ensure quality, continuity, innovation, and integrity in academic and student matters. The Sr. ADAA will oversee quality of instruction and course content of all academic programs in the classroom and online; establish priorities for academic program development and for recruiting the key academic leaders necessary to successfully execute the educational goals of the strategic plan; and ensure the efficient assignment of faculty effort to cover the teaching needs of all educational programs across HWCOM. The Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist (HSOS) also assists simulation educators, faculty, and learners in the use of equipment used in simulation. • Coordinates and oversees all operational and administrative tasks, as needed, in regard to simulation scenarios, such as assist and provide advice during the design and running of simulation scenarios and gives advice on the integrity of the scenario. Contributes to the education aspects which include debriefing and feedback to the learners. Maintains stock levels to meet simulation scenario needs.
• Assists in selecting appropriate modality of simulation to meet learning objectives and which is most appropriate to selected learners (manikin, task trainer, etc.
• Makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment, supplies and materials required for simulation.
• Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory agency polices.
• Attends vendor training sessions, conferences, etc. to stay updated on simulation best practices.
• Operates and is able to troubleshoot hospital equipment used in simulation environments (beds, pumps, etc.).
• Controls, and maintains patient simulators (voice and physiological parameters) during scenario-based training sessions.
• Helps to maintain equipment inventory and schedule of maintenance and technical activities each semester. Maintains simulation equipment to a high standard. Maintains equipment, including routine cleaning and care, and coordinates with vendors to send equipment for repair/service as needed.
• Performs appropriate checklist for environment/simulation setup, as well as takes down simulation equipment after scenario completed.
• Actively contributes to the simulation experience including acting as voice of manikin during scenarios as needed.
• Troubleshoots issues with manikins and equipment and can mobilize resources to ensure functionality of equipment in order to meet course requirements.
• Coordinates with Center Administration to ensure the simulation equipment, and hospital-type equipment for mobile simulation/in-situ simulation is always operational.
• Contributes to the strategic planning of the Center in relation to the mission statement.
• Maintains awareness of scheduling in relation to availability of physical and technical resources for learners to have a successful simulation experience.
• Conducts tours as requested for internal and external customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.

• Coordinates and oversees all operational and administrative tasks, as needed, in regard to simulation scenarios, such as assist and provide advice during the design and running of simulation scenarios and gives advice on the integrity of the scenario. Contributes to the education aspects which include debriefing and feedback to the learners. Maintains stock levels to meet simulation scenario needs.
• Assists in selecting appropriate modality of simulation to meet learning objectives and which is most appropriate to selected learners (manikin, task trainer, etc.
• Makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment, supplies and materials required for simulation.
• Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory agency polices.
• Attends vendor training sessions, conferences, etc. to stay updated on simulation best practices.
• Operates and is able to troubleshoot hospital equipment used in simulation environments (beds, pumps, etc.).
• Controls, and maintains patient simulators (voice and physiological parameters) during scenario-based training sessions.
• Helps to maintain equipment inventory and schedule of maintenance and technical activities each semester. Maintains simulation equipment to a high standard. Maintains equipment, including routine cleaning and care, and coordinates with vendors to send equipment for repair/service as needed.
• Performs appropriate checklist for environment/simulation setup, as well as takes down simulation equipment after scenario completed.
• Actively contributes to the simulation experience including acting as voice of manikin during scenarios as needed.
• Troubleshoots issues with manikins and equipment and can mobilize resources to ensure functionality of equipment in order to meet course requirements.
• Coordinates with Center Administration to ensure the simulation equipment, and hospital-type equipment for mobile simulation/in-situ simulation is always operational.
• Contributes to the strategic planning of the Center in relation to the mission statement.
• Maintains awareness of scheduling in relation to availability of physical and technical resources for learners to have a successful simulation experience.
• Conducts tours as requested for internal and external customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.

Follows established procedures and performs detailed accounting assignments under the direction of senior accounting personnel. • Participates in the month-end accounting close process by a compiling numerous revenue and expenses for proper accruals, billing, and chargebacks. This involves calculations in MS Excel, review, and verification for accuracy of data.
• Manages the aging/collections process by maintenance/reconciliation of ARBI accounts receivable with the QuickBooks sub-ledger at the customer level
• Routinely runs reports and queries in Oracle-PeopleSoft financials and may provide advice/technical assistance about financial issues.
• Oversight of MARC Building finance and the annual budget of the building. This involves new PFS activities (one for operations and one for reserves), additional budget and programming to account for billing of various license agreements and routine management of utilities, repairs and maintenance, capital improvements tracking with facilities.
• Performs complex business analysis for departmental activities, comparing actual results to budget, calculating budget variances, and analyzing trends as needed.
• Generates and distributes internal/external vendor invoices/credits accurately and timely, promptly reconciles any differences with source data.
• Drives and implements new process changes to run reports, queries, and foster continuous process improvement within the department.
• Assists with special projects, departmental audit activities, serve as a liaison to the University community for specialized issues as needed.
• Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

A full member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in its Department of Public Policy and Administration. The start date is Fall 2023. A Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field, is required. The successful candidate should have a strong record of, or a demonstrated potential for, scholarly success in the areas of public budgeting and finance, public management, sustainability, social equity, or a related public policy research field. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate abilities to enhance diversity in research, teaching, community engagement, and/or departmental governance. A strong potential for obtaining external research support is preferred. ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation that the Ph.D. is completed before the start date. Candidates already appointed at the Assistant Professor level are also encouraged to apply.
The Department of Public Policy and Administration offers the Bachelor of Public Policy and Service, Master of Public Administration, and Ph.D. in Public Affairs.
