The State Archives of Florida announces the availability of one full-time position assisting the Florida Memory Program with outreach, communications, and developing and managing social media.

The State Archives of Florida seeks a versatile and strong communicator to create content and support activities that promote and publicize the Florida Memory Program and the State Archives.
Florida Memory operates under the State Archives of Florida, Bureau of Archives and Records Management, Division of Library and Information Services, Florida Department of State.

Florida Memory is a digital outreach program providing free online access to select archival records from collections housed in the State Archives of Florida and the Special Collections of the State Library of Florida.
Florida Memory digitizes materials that illuminate the state's history and culture.

The position works directly with the Florida Memory team in the areas of social media management, marketing, outreach and content development.
The outreach and communications coordinator is responsible for writing, editing and proofreading publications for both internal and external use.
Publications include but are not limited to social media posts, press releases, newsletters, web content and articles.
The position may be called upon to represent the State Archives and Florida Memory at outreach events and is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the public, including volunteers.

Minimum
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• One (1) year of experience in writing, media relations, public relations, marketing or related area.
• Lift and carry boxes of printed material weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Resume and cover letter detailing relevant experience must be included with your submission.

Preferences:
• Bachelorâ s degree in English, Communications or History.
• Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and email marketing software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
• Public Speaking experience.
• Coursework, formal training or work experience in archives or records management.

Special Note:

Duties and
Responsibilities:
• Write, edit and proofread publications for both internal and external use.

• Prepare weekly social media strategies.
• Respond to research requests from the public.
• Coordinate volunteer projects.
• Handle high volume requests for promotional materials.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook.
• Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and email marketing software.
