The Role:
As the Senior Legal Director, Data and Privacy you will serve as the primary coverage for our growing Forge Data business. You will work closely with the business and other internal stakeholders to advise on specific Financial Market Data products and services, and related legal and regulatory requirements. You will also advise on data protection, governance and privacy issues and work with InfoSec, Compliance and other internal stakeholders and outside counsel to ensure compliance with privacy and data protection laws while enabling data-driven innovation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think and act both strategically and tactically with respect to the needs and objectives of our business while ensuring that the company remains compliant with various data protection and other laws and regulations as well as industry best practices in data and financial services.
Location: This role will require you to be on-site at one of our offices ideally New York but open to San Francisco 1-3 times a week
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal support for Forge Data business, collaborating with product and engineering teams on new data products, and advising on market data, index and/or other data products in financial services relating to trading and investment services
• Negotiate and manage various licensing, distribution, and other agreements, ensuring consistent legal guidance and risk alignment
• Stay current with regulatory developments, updating policies and agreements, and advising on data privacy and financial services compliance
• Identify and address new privacy and data law requirements, providing guidance on data anonymization, AI capabilities, and data analytics
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on global privacy analysis and control design for Forge’s data environments
• Support additional legal areas such as IP, HR, litigation, and vendor agreements, participating in cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed
Required Qualifications:
• 4+ years of direct experience advising and counseling on Financial Data Products (market data, indices, analytics, etc.) directly collaborating with Product Management, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering etc.
• Comprehensive understanding of applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, including federal and state financial regulations, data products, analytics, indices, and data governance
• Proficient knowledge of US privacy laws and hands-on experience implementing privacy programs in growing companies; familiarity with foreign privacy regimes and the ability to adapt quickly
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and advising internal stakeholders

As the Senior Director, Data and Privacy - Legal you will serve as the primary coverage for our growing Forge Data business. The Role:
Reporting to the EVP, Custody, the role of VP of Business Development, Custody will be a key player on the Custody team, helping to drive pipeline development and revenue within Forge’s Custody organization. Acting as the lead salesperson, the individual in this role will put in place and manage processes to drive partner, account, and revenue acquisition within the Custody organization.
Working across multiple levels, the VP of Business Development, Custody will help to align the execution of tactical programs and revenue objectives with Forge Custody’s overall revenue strategy. They will partner successfully with stakeholders across the Custody team to ensure that the appropriate frameworks are in place to propel and support revenue objectives. They will also develop and build a pipeline and close deals to onboard new asset sponsors, wealth managers and other channels onto the Forge Open Platform.
The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, take a data-driven approach to measuring success, be adept at reporting on key metrics and align with Forge’s values of being bold, humble, and accountable.

• Relationship Building: Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, key partners, and stakeholders to enhance our market position.
• Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performance sales organization, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure individual and collective success.
• Sales Training: Develop and implement training programs to continuously elevate the skills and performance of the sales organization.
