Responsibilities will vary based on the day but can include operating an SSL audio console, operating a Sony MVS-series production video switcher, working with Vinten Robotic cameras, operating an ELC lighting console, working in the Technical Operations Center to coordinate live broadcast elements using Bitcentral and iNews, and other responsibilities within NABET 53 jurisdiction. Must have 2-3 years of experience in a live production environment using one or more of the technologies described above or their equivalent. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to lift 20 lbs unassisted and be able to stand upright for long periods of time. Working with your supervisors, you'll handle the complete production process. This includes pre-production planning, scripting, supervising voice-over talent and graphic designers, creative editing, sound design and final packaging of promos. You will also be responsible for directing anchors, lighting/camera crew members and reporters. Using on-air, OTT and digital platforms, you'll contribute to the team's success of creating effective audience-targeted promotion. Must be a highly organized, dependable, creative problem solver. Perform other duties as needed, and as directed by the Creative Services Director and Department Managers.

Must have at least 3+ years experience in a medium or large TV market or similar field. College degree preferred. Must be able to work on multiple projects at once, hit tight deadlines, be a strong communicator and have strong conceptual skills with the ability to direct talent. Recommended to be familiar with KTTV/KCOP News & Programming. Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Media Encoder) or similar editing software knowledge and Microsoft Office experience required. Familiarity and working knowledge of Wide Orbit, Slack, Quip, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and Box is helpful.

VP News Director

KTTV in Los Angeles has is an incredible news leadership opportunity in the most dynamic, exciting television market in the country. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years as a news director, and a proven track record of ratings growth. We’re looking for a competitive leader with a vision for excellence. Responsible for oversight of station's news content and news production across all platforms including on air, mobile and web. Responsible for developing the vision and strategies for all newscasts to achieve rating growth. Lead, manage and motivate staff and establish on-going objectives for news coverage while maintaining standards for journalistic integrity. Responsibilities also include overall management of news department including, budgets, expenses, capital, strategic planning, union negotiations, rating analysis, talent search, website, mobile apps, social; media, new technology etc. The News Director serves as the station liaison with city hall, police, fire, sheriff, State capital and Fox entities regarding News related matters. The News Director works closely with the General Manager in the development of news management strategies and goals. This person will also develop a professional working relationship with other station department heads and staff.

Top 20 market experience preferred. College degree required. Position requires an innovative thinker who understands news consumption on all platforms. This person must be a hands-on leader and must possess great news judgment, honesty, outstanding planning, organization, team building skills, and a passion for good journalism. Strong written and presentation skills, knowledge of and understanding of research, ratings and promotion are essential.
