The Franklin University Learning Commons has a full-time position available as an eResources, Acquisitions, and Research Services Librarian. This position is responsible for managing acquisitions of all library information resources and maintenance of the library budget. In addition, the role serves as the primary support person for... electronic resource access, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The eResources, Acquisitions, and Research Services Librarian serves as administrator for selection, vendor, and library discovery tools, and edits parts of the library website. As an involved library team member, this individual will work designated reference hours, conduct research for assigned staff/faculty projects, serve as the library liaison for assigned programs, create and conduct library training, and participate on university committees as assigned and engage in professional development opportunities. Another part of the role is fulfilling library instruction requests, whether for classes or workshops. The position supports students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the general public. Generally, the responsibilities are divided as follows:
• 30% of time spent on acquisitions (DDA, purchasing individual titles, collection management etc.)
• 30% of time spent on research services (LibGuides, reference, instruction)
• 10% of time spent on eResources (licensing, setting up trials, working with vendors, troubleshooting)
• 30% of time spent on budgeting (purchase orders, etc.)
This position works a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 1 day per week on campus, supervises the library during assigned weekends within a structured rotation, and may require some evening hours until 6:00 p.m., due to staffing situations.
We seek someone with an MLS/MSIL from an ALA university/college or someone in the process of obtaining these degrees. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in library acquisitions or electronic resources, preferably within an academic library environment, is required. Working knowledge of typical library databases, integrated library systems, and standard computer office applications such as Microsoft Word, excel, PowerPoint and email is expected. The selected individual should have prior experience negotiating and processing license agreements, managing operations, and solving complex problems, and the ability to develop resourceful solutions. Must also be able to lift 20-30 pound boxes of books.
Prior budgeting and accounting experience, experience with the acquisitions and systems modules of Innovative’s Sierra library system, and familiarity with discovery layers and Open URL resolvers would all be pluses in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic direction and leadership of the units and directors within the Dean of Students Office, including the functional areas of Academic Advising, Accessibility Services, Career Development, Current Student Communications, and Community Standards.
• Assemble and support a highly skilled and talented team to ensure high quality programs and services for students in support of the Department of Student Affairs purpose and principles. Develop positive and collaborative relationships with faculty, admissions, financial aid, academic support services, and other key leaders in the University to identify, advocate, develop, and implement strategies that demonstrate an inclusive and equitable learning community for all students, in an effort to positively impact enrollment, retention, and increase student success and satisfaction.
• Understanding of retention and persistence metrics, student assessment, and their application to the decision-making process. Leverage data to inform strategy development focused on student success, including a deep understanding of student persistence, retention and completion; the Dean serves as the Co-Chair of the institution’s Student Success Initiative Team (SSI)
• Promote an inclusive campus environment that meets the needs of all special populations. Provide leadership and guidance in analysis, review, creation and interpretation of student policies and procedures that ensure external compliance, including the university’s military and veteran support services and 504/ADA compliance as well as serving as University’s Primary Appeal Officer, managing the University appeals and any BBB complaints.
• Manage the budget for all Student Affairs functional areas.
• Temperamental and intellectual agility to respond effectively to urgent items as they arise, while maintaining the division’s central goal of supporting holistic student success.
• Participate actively in formal and informal professional development, serving as a good consumer of the persistent and emerging research and assessment of the field, and helping team members link theory and research to daily practice.
• Identify and develop relationships with key community partners to which students may be referred for additional levels of support in collaboration with others in the department.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in ambiguity, creating and implementing new initiatives that improve student success and satisfaction.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree preferred, with a minimum credential of a Master’s Degree required
• Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience within student affairs, enrollment management or a related area.
• Experience with current student enrollment management and student retention.
