The Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders; enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs including but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry, and Parental Accountability Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

DCSS is seeking candidates for the position of Child Support Services Agent Supervisor. This position is based at the DCSS office located in Athens, Clarke County, GA.

Pay Grade: I

Fatherhood agent supervisor works with non-custodial parents who are unemployed or underemployed and, as a result, unable to pay their full child support obligations. The program connects parents with resources leading to jobs that pay above minimum wage, greater self-sufficiency, and more emotional, parental, and financial involvement in their children’s lives.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Manages a limited number of Fatherhood professional subordinates, serves as a liaison for DCSS, the Federal OCSE, and state entities regarding the fatherhood forums.
• Establishes strategic partnerships to assist non-custodial parents in locating opportunities and/or resources leading to career employment paying above minimum wage, increasing the non-custodial parent's self-sufficiency, and encouraging increased emotional, parental, and financial involvement in the lives of their children.
• Performs outreach to recruit partnerships and supplement existing services.
• Interacts with other agencies, the judiciary, local government, and the local media to promote the Fatherhood Program.
• Works closely with the Performance Management Section to ensure that Fatherhood's core work and activities are in compliance with standard operating procedures and ensures that Fatherhood professional subordinates individual and team goals and objectives are met and exceeded in support of department and agency goals and objectives.
• Develops recommendations on system changes needed to enhance and support reporting requirements.
• Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by manager, director, or leadership team.
• Evidence of exceptional critical thinking skills, good judgment, and decision-making abilities to monitor and manage a caseload to ensure that child support obligations are met.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of relevant experience
OR
• High school diploma or GED AND Four (4) years of relevant experience, Two (2) years of which at an advanced/supervisory level
OR
• Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Client Support Svcs Agent 3 (SST062) or position equivalent.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or above in a related field, (i.e. behavioral science, business, criminal justice), from an approved, accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of child support/enforcement case management work experience.

OR
• Associate’s degree in a related field, (i.e. behavioral science, business, criminal justice), from an approved, accredited college or university AND Four (4) years of child support/enforcement case management work experience of which Two (2) were at the level of DCSS Agent 2 (or comparable position) based on the State of Georgia Position Clarification Structure.

OR
• Current enrollment in an institution of higher learning with an anticipated graduation date in an Associate’s degree program, (i.e. behavioral science, business, criminal justice), AND Four (4) years of child support/enforcement case management work experience or which Two were at the level of DCSS Agent 2 (or comparable position) based on the State of Georgia Position Classification Structure.

Faculty members are required to attend paid staff orientation and training sessions in advance of the summer program, work collaboratively with discipline specific department staff on an ongoing basis; participate in outside-of-class activities when directed; and other assigned tasks related to the Governor's Honors Program. A minimum of one training session will be held on a Friday evening in the spring of 2023 (new faculty) and Saturday, (full faculty) at Georgia Southern University. Faculty must prepare unit plans and/or a syllabus and course overviews that reflect a rigorous and engaging curriculum. Faculty must be able to maintain accurate records of attendance.

Minimum Training & Experience: Bachelor's Degree or higher. Minimum of (3) three years successful teaching experience in the specific content area at the college or secondary level. Experience teaching gifted education classes, Advanced Placement, or honors courses OR comparable experience teaching high school age students in a private or out of school environment (e.g., YMCA, private studio, professional ensemble classes) within the applicant's field of expertise
