Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
• Screens and refers all calls, beeps and pages to appropriate sources. Handles all inside and outside calls, requests for pages, beeps or information as evidenced by no individual complaints. Follows hospital policy number to keep paging to a minimum - paging over head only when necessary. Processes all types of communication inside and outside the hospital effectively, (i.e. pagers, security radios, alarm monitoring company, etc.)
• Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of all emergency codes and procedures and takes appropriate immediate action. Demonstrates a calm demeanor and takes appropriate and timely action on all non-medical emergency alarms. Has knowledge of audible codes for both medical and non-medical emergencies, as well as who to contact for each type of emergency.
• Provides information effectively to Physicians and other key on-call personnel. Ensures appropriate routing of accurate messages for on call Physicians and personnel. Follows Physicians individual requests on how to handle his/her calls. Demonstrates respect for Physicians in that their concerns come first when not on call; beep the Physician on call, not the Physician the patient requests. Successfully places calls for Physicians both inside and outside the facility. Communicates with co-workers information and changes for on-call Physicians, as well as other personnel on call.
• Guides other employees, patients and Physicians on communication equipment. Makes Physicians, hospital employees, Physician’s office employees aware of phone procedures and capabilities. Assists patients with proper phone procedures for long distance billing and general information. Consults with telephone communication staff as needed to report beeper and phone system failure.
• Correctly utilizes and insures staff under supervision correctly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Ensures the dining experience is enjoyable through cheerful behavior and carefully following established procedures for merchandising, plate presentation and service
• Communicate with residents to take meal orders and provide service during meals
• Serve full table service to all residents and guests
• Set up and break down of dining room
• Clean up of wait station and other areas
• Stocking of all items used in work procedure
• Must be personable and maintain a positive pleasant demeanor at all times
• Promptly and accurately report any resident problems, inquiries, requests and/or concerns to supervisor
• Serve food to residents according to their order
• Accurately set up workstation with all necessary items prior to the start of service
• Responsible for the proper food handling and preparation in accordance with Health Department regulations
• Responsible to keep clean and sanitize the equipment used
• Communicate to manager about any out of stock items
• Make menu changes only with the consent of the manager or supervisor
• Have sufficient dexterity to handle food/equipment efficiently & safely
• Report any faulty equipment in need of repair
• Answer phone and take messages or take out orders
• Substitute for any position within the department
• Cut pies and cakes properly
• Adheres to company policies and procedures
• Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education
• Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information
• Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; may be working toward high school diploma or equivalent.
