Under supervision, assists in the planning, coordination, organization, and assessment of the development and implementation of a functional program, including program evaluation and program management. VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Applicants will be required to obtain an American Sign Language Proficiency Instrument (ASLPI) rating of 2 or above within three years from date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent or 1 year of experience in housekeeping
- Strong Communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Familiar with OSHA and other health and safety regulations related to cleaning supplies, chemicals, and housekeeping.
- Professional experience in stripping and refinishing tile floors.
- ASL proficiency at 2 or above as measured by the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI).

This position is located in the DBHDD Region 6 Field Office in Columbus, Georgia. DBHDD Region 6 service individual residing in the following counties: Butts, Carroll, Chattahoochee, Clay, Coweta, Crawford, Crisp, Dooly, Fayette, Harris, Heard, Henry, Houston, Lamar, Macon, Marion, Meriwether, Muscogee, Peach, Pike, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Spalding, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Troup, Upson, and Webster.
The candidate chosen for this position will perform the duties listed below for multiple counties in North Georgia. The position reports to the Regional Planning List Administration Supervisor for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
- Serves as the primary customer service representative for individuals on the planning list and the families of those individuals.
- Provides detailed information on waiver services and the waiver entry process for individuals and families seeking I/DD services.
- Provides ongoing telephonic support to families awaiting services, particularly when family or individual circumstances change.
- Requires telephone support to individuals and families on the Planning List and bringing resolution to phone calls and messages.
- Responds to families in stress with patience and empathetic listening.
- Collaborates with others in the Regional Field Office to provide referrals to outside agencies for non-waiver services and supports

- Communicates status and need level changes / concerns to the Regional Planning List Administration Supervisor; has significant interaction with the State Admissions Manager.

- During normal operations, this position may require presence at the Regional Field Office M-F during regular business hours; this is not a field-based position.

The Georgia Department of Education - Whole Child is recruiting for a Communications and Visibility Specialist. This position will work to develop, implement, and sustain communication and visibility for the Office of Whole Child Supports. The primary function of this position is to support and promote communications and visibility to districts, schools, and other stakeholders, including families. Also, developing and supporting a sustainable, long-term plan for communicating and receiving feedback about the implementation of grant and division initiatives is expected in this role. The position will have a strong focus on outreach and community... partnership, especially as it relates to promoting an integrated tiered support system through whole child supports for all students.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide professional communications in multiple mediums and through a variety of online modalities to promote and market the work of the division
- Contribute to the development of printed communication materials, including editing images/photos, graphics, and layouts for digital and print purposes
- Coordinate multiple communication campaigns and manage the website for the Office of Whole Child Supports
- Establish appropriate feedback mechanisms to monitor and improve the effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts
- Participate in professional learning events that assist in developing a deep understanding of the work you are communicating and marketing
- Manage the division inbox and respond to questions or delegate to the appropriate team members or other departments as appropriate.
- Collaborate with GaDOE, RESAs, and other agencies to develop and communicate professional learning and coaching strategies through innovative communication techniques for a variety of audiences
- Utilize technology to effectively communicate, promote initiatives, and complete work tasks, e.g., Outlook, Microsoft Word, MS Teams, Excel, etc.
- Interact in a highly effective manner through interpersonal and/or group verbal and written communication skills to foster stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement
- Manage multiple, overlapping, high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, i.e., self-directed and self-motivated
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: Documented experience in the field of communication, journalism, and/or marketing; established experience in organization and/or implementation of major educational or public agency grants and/or initiatives; verified experience in website development and analysis as related to effectiveness of media/communication efforts, e.g., website traffic statistics, social media participation, etc.; confirmed evidence of data collection and data analysis for the purpose of interpreting and preparing reports for a school, school system, Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), federal agency, state education agency, or other state agency level.
Travel will be required.
