Guru is on a mission to reinvent the way people connect with information at work. Our knowledge management solution provides teams with expert-verified information where they work and when they need it most. Our goal is to give every team in the world trusted information so that they can do their best work. We're backed by an amazing group of investors and we're growing fast; in 2020 we... raised a series C round which took our total funding to $70M.
At Guru, we know that talent is everywhere. We support remote and hybrid models of work , with offices in Philadelphia and San Francisco and employees spread across 23 states . Time differences can make live collaboration difficult, which is why we're intentional about our internal communication practices, favoring asynchronous options where possible.
Everyone is welcome here. Guru is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, where every employee experiences a sense of belonging every day. It's a fact that teams with diverse representation across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and abilities perform better. If you're interested, please apply even if you don't check every box because you could be just what we're looking for! We'd love passionate individuals to join us on the next stage of our journey!
Guru is looking for an expert-level Salesforce Architect to provide end-to-end expertise across the Salesforce platform, help manage our GTM tools and integrations within SFDC, and develop simple, scalable solutions consistent with a growth stage private company. If you have deep experience in Salesforce at a high growth software company and have "seen the movie" enough to know what will actually work long-term in a simple, scalable way...this role is for you.
More specifically, this role's mandate includes:
• Vision & evolution of SFDC @ Guru: Drive the vision for how we should be using SFDC and own its integration with our other GTM and business systems. Deeply understand how Guru uses the tools, research external best practices, and provide an inspirational point of view on how we could be operating in an ideal state. Shepherd the GTM stakeholders as we march towards that true north with tangible artifacts & milestones, including the creation and ownership of the "Guru Salesforce Roadmap"
• Optimization & Iteration: Develop a long-term vision for Salesforce and prioritize tasks accordingly, ensuring optimal performance and scalability . Implement and optimize workflows and processes across the go-to-market teams to efficiently scale and adapt to evolving business needs as we scale to >$100M in ARR. This will require technical aptitude and consultative skills to listen, synthesize, and implement what is required for the next-best-iteration of SFDC that is simple, scalable, and consistent with our long-term vision here at Guru.
• Run-Rate Administration: Manage day-to-day administration of our Salesforce instance and its associated integrations with Billing, ERP, HRIS, and other ancillary systems. This includes regularly engaging with GTM stakeholders and updating/maintaining fields/workflows as needed. Part of this role will be the hands-on maintenance of our SFDC instance.
• Integrations to/from Salesforce: Although this role is a Salesforce Architect, there is an expectation that this person assists in managing integrations to and from SFDC. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in GTM tools and integrations commonly used by SaaS companies of our size (Gong, Clearbit, Outreach, Service Cloud, etc). Many of our data integrations are synced via HighTouch, so SQL knowledge is also required.
Principles expected as part of this role:
• Auditability & reproducibility from a non-architect is required for all work. This means minimal APEX code. Creative solutions do not mean custom code that is hard for another person to easily audit and reproduce.
• Simple and 80% sufficient is better than complicated but 100% fulsome. Stakeholders may not love to always hear this, but it is our reality.
• Always explain why. If you feel very strongly about how something should be done, it needs to have an easily understood rationale rather than "because it was done this way at XYZ company", especially in this role.
• Continuous improvement. Iterative changes over long-term projects. We operate in 2 - 4 week sprints and ensure there is continuous improvement rather than scoping 6+ month long projects.
Requirements:
• 8-10 years of experience developing SFDC solutions and managing GTM tool integrations in high-growth software companies (with specific Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and CPQ examples). This needs to have been done at a growth stage company where you played a lead role or were the sole person, not part of an SFDC team at a larger company. This implies you did the work rather than were aware of it or managed others who did the work.
• At least 5 years of experience leading SFDC implementations and/or substantial rearchitectures, including partnering with stakeholders for solutioning. This means you have worked through challenging situations during implementations and been able to move past it. This allows one to pattern match what not to do again and what is best practice.
• SQL fluent. You need to know SQL, full stop. If not, you will be expected to take a SQL course and be proficient very quickly in the role.
• APEX, Visualforce, JavaScript and SOQL capabilities. We want you to know this, but not use it often.
• Salesforce Architect Certification preferred. Admin Certification required.
• Excellent communication skills necessary for gathering requirements and communicating changes/enhancements
• Excellent organization skills to manage several projects at once while being transparent on the milestones and deliverables
Hey, not everybody checks all the boxes, apply and let us get to know you and your experiences and we can learn and grow together here at Guru!
