The Opportunity
The newly created VP of Marketing will be responsible for defining, creating and implementing the organization’s marketing plans. This role will oversee GLAAD’s marketing team which includes website, creative design studio, and partnering on internal communications. This role will report directly to the President of Communications & Campaigns. GLAAD’s VP of Marketing should be service driven, with their finger on the pulse of marketing best practices via social media, broadcast, direct mail, events, and other channels. This role will be GLAAD’s storyteller and will package the impact and successes of GLAAD’s communications, campaigns, and the GLAAD Media Institute to drive greater visibility, engagement, and activation, bringing new supporters to the organization.
GLAAD’s VP of Marketing and their team will work collaboratively across departments. GLAAD's VP of Marketing should have traditional marketing and non-profit experience but does not have to come directly from a non-profit company.

The Director of Development Operations supports all in-house development department functions including, but not limited to : database management;

• Oversee GLAAD’s website strategy and web producer. Ensure the website is achieving the objectives and goals of the organization
• Develop social media marketing plans to and direct all aspects of GLAAD's marketing strategy across social media to bring GLAAD content to new audiences
• Lead and manage the GLAAD Design Studio
• Partner on internal communications to inform and connect everyone at GLAAD
• Responsible for staying ahead of marketing trends, toolsand practices, and integrating them into GLAAD’s annual marketing plan
• Working with GLAAD teams to develop all content and formats for Executive, Development, Consulting and Corporate initiatives/projects for use externally
• Maintain brand standards and guidelines, both visual and in language, that are accessible for the full GLAAD team
• Ensure GLAAD is present at key industry moments to achieve meaningful visibility for the brand
• Identify the marketing role(s) and structure needed to support the strategies and goals
• Contribute to the overall growth of GLAAD through the marketing team
• Determine KPIs for the marketing department
• Develop and execute plans to bring GLAAD’s impact and work to new audiences via advertising and other marketing strategies
• Analyze GLAAD data, trends, reports and third party research studies to make fact based appeals and innovative storytelling
Qualifications
• Proven leadership and business acumen with 12+ years experience
• 15+ years of experience in marketing related fields (non-profit a +)
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating staff at all levels
• Proven ability to partner and work well with others outside of the department
• Experience on both agency and client-side
• Commitment to excellence
• Executive level written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to develop relationships and partnerships, both internally and externally
• Ability to interact and work effectively with a diverse group of associates at all organizational levels
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
• Proficient in Google Suite products
