Our Ethos
Everything we do, we do to transform — ourselves, our people, and the narratives that have taken hold about what Africa brings to the world. We deliver this by being of service; by setting unreasonable standards for ourselves and our community, and surpassing them at every opportunity...
We achieve this through an adapted take on Outsourcing. We build and manage remote teams across Africa for some of the world’s largest technology and media companies. We specialize in end-to-end machine learning data annotation and omnichannel support solutions that ultimately yield more inclusive outcomes for our clients and their customers. As a company, we’re obsessed with achieving an unreasonable standard. “The standard” is our product.
We ask thoughtful questions to build a thorough understanding of our client's needs; then pour ourselves into delivering, not just great work, but an even greater experience. The only commitment greater than the one we have to our customers is the one we have to our community, so we work tirelessly to deliver transformative experiences that they will need to compete globally and build meaningful careers beyond Hugo.
As a culture, we’re Silicon Valley meets ECOWAS — english et en français. We’re smart, dynamic, and ambitious. And we’re on a mission to win for our clients and for our people. Join us!
Role Overview
We have a great mission, and an even better product. We are searching for an experienced, results-oriented Chief Marketing Officer to build a world class organization. An organization that cultivates a compelling public image, cements our positioning in a competitive global industry, and integrates all of our marketing to inspire confidence and gain share as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Play both architect and steward of Hugo’s brand story — crafting a simple, relevant and tech-forward storyline; and invite our target audience to participate in it.
• Define and execute key elements of Hugo’s awareness, inbound-marketing and brand positioning strategies.
• Positioning Assets: Lead the design + launch of a new website and other public facing assets, aligning featured content with our storyboards, messaging and positioning;
• PR + Storytelling: Build the Company and Co-Founders’ brands/presence as thought leaders, outcome-leaders and influencers in our space;
• Content Strategy: Build a cohesive content machine that regularly produces leading, in-depth and substantive pieces across each of our verticals of specialization;
• Social Strategy: Build a cohesive social footprint with content, messaging and storytelling that aligns with our brand positioning;
• Inbound Marketing: Position the above brand and storytelling assets to create an effective inbound funnel;
• Product Marketing: Complete the build-out of the company’s stock of sales and marketing collateral — decks, case studies, blog content, white papers, etc. - in support of the outbound sales team.
• Design and execute on Hugo’s marketing strategy to drive awareness, brand equity, and client acquisition.
• Lead the implementation of an integrated multi-channel strategy, designed to deliver predictable revenue-generating strategies.
• Collaborate closely with product and sales stakeholders, to develop and deliver successful multi-channel marketing campaigns.
• Run major campaigns to get us meetings with key personas at 200+ target enterprise accounts.
About You
• An owner. A creator. A builder.
• Mission driven.
• Original, creative and business-oriented (with deep U.S. B2B marketing experience).
• Experienced content + product marketer.
• Experienced story-crafter, story-teller and PR marketer.
• Hands-on, decisive, and discerning.
• Bold. Come with a perspective, and be collaborative (open to new ideas).
• Willingness to obsess about our public face, product and mission.
You Might Have
• 10+ years of experience in a rigorous, high-fidelity, high-output B2B marketing environment
• (agency experience is a plus).
• Demonstrable mastery of all aspects of PR, content and product marketing – storytelling,
• content/collateral creation + distribution, product marketing, communications, partner marketing, public relations.
• Deep experience + understanding of the U.S. tech + commercial (B2B) market - who the audience is, what they want to hear, how they want to hear it and where they want it delivered.
• Exceptional written and presentation skills, with the ability to command/captivate an audience.
• Experience building and leading full-bench marketing team (incl. agencies).
• Data driven (understand that data moves the needle at scale, and is not afraid to use it).
• Openness, humility, and an easy air.
What We Offer
A strong mission.
An opportunity for scale impact.
An opportunity to set a vision, own it, and execute from the ground up.
An opportunity to build an industry from scratch (our sector is nascent on the Continent).
A model that is de-risked, proven and now scaling...rapidly.
Hugo provides clear value to both our clients and our community (employees), within a
model insulated from the usual micro- and macro shocks, typical of emerging markets.
A bright, determined, high-caliber team committed to changing the status quo.
