Job Description
Going Merry is looking for a Software Engineer to help building the world's best scholarship platform. We are looking for an engineer to take full ownership of this part of our product - maintaining the roadmap, planning new features and seeing them through to deployment.
An ideal fit would be a candidate with a computer science background, who perhaps plans to be a co-founder and wants to get a deeper understanding of early stage startups. Or you'll be a more experienced engineer with some JavaScript experience, who is keen to join a growing engineering team and make a real difference. Either way you'll be excited by the opportunity to join a fast-growing start-up, in a role where you'll be able to take ownership of a core part of the platform.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
Proficiency in JVM-related language(s) with at least 3+ years of experience
Experience with relational database, such as Postgres or MySQL, caching mechanisms, and async processing
Experience building API, either via RESTful API or GraphQL
Experience with distributed source code management tools such as Git, Mercurial, etc.
Does not mind working fairly independently, but are not afraid to ask for assistance
Appreciation for a test-driven, code review culture that produces well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code
Will be comfortable to help leading the direction of our core engineering and architecture.
