Our Packaging Engineer will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of merchant package development for all categories across the Goldbelly platform. The role will work closely with Operations, Finance, and Business Development to ensure packaging strategies meet our consumers’ and merchants’ needs, bringing the best food to people nationwide. Another key aspect of the role will be working with our Merchant Relations team to identify packaging problems that occur day-to-day and actively work to quickly find solutions that fit the merchants' needs. Continuously supporting our merchants’ packaging needs from the time of onboarding and being able to proactively improve current packaging is a key part of this role.

What You’ll Do:
• Source and develop packaging strategies to ensure our perishable products are being shipped securely and in the most efficient way possible while providing a great customer experience.
• Establish a scalable packaging testing program for all product types and create best practice guides for our partner merchants to ensure successful perishable food deliveries.
• Solve packaging related issues seen across different product categories.
• Launch a Goldbelly approved packaging program to all merchants on the Goldbelly marketplace.
• Work in a fast paced environment, to meet tight deadlines, and make decisions on the fly.

What You’ve Done:
• A degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or related Engineering degree
• 3+ years of experience in food packaging development preferred.
• Experience analyzing data to identify trends to prevent problems and implement solutions quickly.
• Passion for sourcing sustainable packaging solutions.
• Experience in marketplace or ecommerce preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of a wide variety of packaging materials and solutions for perishable products (shippers, insulation, cold packs, dividers, PET containers, paper based containers).
• Knowledge of packaging quality standards and cold chain solutions.
