Our Dominican Republic medical internships focus on bringing basic healthcare to primarily undocumented Haitian migrant workers and their families who live on less than $5 per day and do not qualify for any government funded public services. These families live in very rural, isolated parts of the country with limited access to running water and no electricity. Children are often suffering from treatable diseases because of limited access to medical doctors and inexpensive medications such as antibiotics. Interns in these programs will receive necessary education to provide services such as screening, evaluation, and basic treatment for these conditions in coordination with a medical doctor.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:
Internships are 8 weeks long, including 8-weeks of remote education and planning and 8 days in the Dominican Republic. This is a volunteer program and travel costs to/from Dominican Republic are not paid.
The internship program has beautiful and comfortable accommodations and meals providing a safe, clean, and quiet place to relax, enjoy and reflect on their experience.
All graduates will receive personalized letters of recommendation from a medical doctor and one or more highly recognized international business leaders, recognition on our website and 10+ media outlets as Global Healthcare Leaders, lifetime access to our online library of continuing education and network of other medical professionals, as well as a certificate of completion.
