At Hypothesis, we blend insights, design, and strategy to help important brands do amazing things.
We work with the world’s most dynamic, admired, and disruptive companies to answer their high-stakes questions and help build the future. We are a nimble, forward-leaning, independent agency whose culture empowers amazing people to do their best work. We’re a collection of researchers, strategists, designers, and marketers who are also musicians, travelers, astrophysicists, rock climbers, and gamers, with two big things in common: we love a good challenge, and we believe our ideas get better when we work together.
What You’ll Do:
As a Director, Qualitative Specialist, you bring a high level of qualitative expertise and craft to the Project team. The Director is a senior team member who works collaboratively with the project team, has excellent moderating techniques, and plays a consultative role with clients. This person confidently leads a variety of types of qualitative methods while constantly “moderating to objectives”. Additionally, Director-level Qualitative Specialists need to have the clients’ trust, as they lead meetings with clients, present findings, and consult on implications. In business development, the Director writes and contributes to proposals and suggests creative and innovative ways to address client objectives.
• Senior contributor to qualitative projects from initial meetings to report delivery
• Moderates a range of qualitative methods; focus groups, IDIs, ethnographies, co-creations, equally proficient in-person and online.
• Brings creative, and innovative ideas to qualitative projects. Seeks to always elevate our qualitative approaches, and methods, techniques and use of platforms
• Create key deliverables from scratch: discussion guides, reports in PowerPoint (including executive summary)
• Synthesizes qualitative data and levels up to insights. Leads, or at times guides the team, in the creation of the “story” of reports with minimal direction
• Conceptualize slides and collaborates with the Design Team
• Acts as mentor for other qualitative team members
• Drafts proposals and cost estimates
• Leads client presentations and calls
• Nurtures strong, ongoing relationships with clients
You Are:
• Creative – Keeping the client’s strategic objectives in mind, recommend creative qualitative approaches that will go beyond surface understanding
• Flexible - Able to pivot as projects evolve, and “moderate to objectives” adapting as needed to ensure study objectives are met
• Consultative - Provides strategic consultation confidently to clients.
• Inspiring – mentors and guides junior moderators providing opportunities for stretch
• Strong Leader - Takes responsibility for the success of projects, and readily contributes to all the qualitative work of Hypothesis in small and large ways
• Problem solver - Able to anticipate potential issues with studies, or handle unexpected problems, and propose efficient solutions
• Intrinsically motivated - Thrives in a dynamic environment, manages multiple projects simultaneously and adept at switching gears as necessary
• Strong communicator – Highly developed communication skills, both in writing story-driven reports and verbally communicating approaches and insights
• Trusted advisor and client partner
• Open to Travel – up to 40% of our projects involve travel
What You Need:
• 8+ Years of Relevant Experience
• Bachelor's or equivalent experience
What We Offer:
We are premium. We embrace individuality. We are brave. We support each other. We are all empowered.
We’re happy when our employees are happy and we understand that everyone needs a creative and positive work environment, time to themselves to recharge, time with family, or just a night to binge on Netflix. To that aim, we’ve put together the kind of generous benefits package you’d expect with some extras you might not expect.
• Unlimited PTO
• Office optional (remote work)
• 9 Paid Holidays
• 4 Wellness Days

• Healthcare & Dependent Care FSA
• 401K + 4% company match
• Employee Assistance Program

• Annual stipend for the first two years of new family member's daycare.
• Internet Stipend
• Home Office Stipend
