Expectations:
• Work a minimum of 2 assignments each week
• Be on time and complete all scheduled assignments
• Hours: 7:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
• Follow lesson plans and perform all other duties as assigned.
• Ensure student safety

• Openness to critical feedback with a desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a substitute teacher.

Requirements:
• 48 hours of college credit hours *OR* high school diploma and 1+ year work experience with children *OR* Bachelor's degree (strongly preferred)
• A belief that a college education is possible for all children
• Commitment to positive contribution to the developing school-wide culture that fosters a productive, enthusiastic learning environment.
• Pass background check
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Compensation:
$90 per day for non-degreed substitute teachers.
$120 per day for Bachelor's degreed (any subject area)substitute teachers.
Long term positions pay $120 or $170 per day, begins day 11 of consecutive assignment

Role Mission:

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction and manages the learning environment. The substitute is responsible for always ensuring student safety by actively supervising scholars while maintaining a positive environment.

This position reports directly to the Regional Substitute Staffing Manager and is managed at the campus level for day-to-day assignments by the administrative assistant, campus principal and instructional lead team.

In this role you will:

1- Perform substitute duties as assigned
• Follow substitute plans as indicated by administration or absent teacher.
• Conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times
• Complete additional duties, which could include hallway, lunch or recess monitoring
• Maintain a safe learning environment utilizing the campus behavior management system and resources
• Actively monitors students at all times
• Use positive reinforcement when responding to students

2- Complete Professional Development and comply with all legal requirements
• Complete assigned professional development and compliance courses (synchronous or asynchronous) upon hire, and throughout the school year as needed.

3- Follows professional practices and regulations consistent with IDEA systems and policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
• Implement feedback received from campus leadership and/or Regional Substitute Staffing Manager
• Use IDEA e-mail account for all communication and respond to all communication within 24 hours.
• Dress in a manner consistent with school policies.
• Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.
• Maintain student confidentiality.
• Model correct use of English oral and written language.
• Contribute in a positive way to the school-wide culture
• Assume responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings while on campus.

4- Ensure accuracy of Frontline – our substitute management and scheduling tool
• Work a minimum of 2 assignments per week
• Cancel assignment(s) with a 48-hour advance notice
• In an emergency cancelation, contact the school and manager before 6:45 a.m.
• Review Frontline records weekly to ensure accuracy

5- Fulfill all additional “Long-Term Substitute” expectations if you accept such an assignment
• Work 5 days a week
• Participate in on-going professional development for implementing curriculum
• Review curriculum, prepare and adapt lesson plans
• Input student grades in a timely manner
• Long-Term Substitutes are expected to utilize the teacher planning period to complete additional responsibilities.
• Work is not to be completed outside the hours of 7:15 – 4:15

What We Offer

Compensation:
• The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $49,000. This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each. We also offer opportunities and incentives through our Teacher Career Pathway with the potential to earn up to $10,000 in additional compensation. • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution

• Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
• Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
• Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
• Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) small groups consisting of students that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, response-to-intervention, Special Education and English Language Learners.
• Collect and analyze student data in order to make effective decisions to maximize achievement
• Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
• Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation
• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly
• Communicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basis
• Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks.
• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroom
• Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
• Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functions
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
• Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
• Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our scholars
