THE OPPORTUNITY
This role provides an opportunity to engage with the global profession in two ways:
• * Around the world, regulators, investors, industry, professional accountancy organizations (PAOs) and accountancy firms are focused on the future of the accountancy profession and the role that professional accountants serve. Underpinning this are the skills, competencies and knowledge of the professional accountants both working in organizations and delivering services to clients. IFAC is committed to supporting PAOs to meet the needs of their members as they develop the necessary skills, competencies and knowledge needed to meet the expectations of the profession’s stakeholders.
• This opportunity also serves as a key role in supporting the development of high-quality audit, assurance, education and ethics standards that are widely adopted and consistently implemented.
The Senior Manager is a key member of IFAC staff responsible for contributing to IFAC’s Education, Thought Leadership, and International Standard Support activities.
The Senior Manager will lead on a range of initiatives that are essential to the execution of IFAC’s Strategic Objectives: Leading and developing a future-ready profession; Contributing to and promoting the development, adoption, and implementation of high-quality international standards; and speaking out as the voice for the global profession.
This position requires strong technical knowledge and writing ability, the skills to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and demonstrated success in managing and delivering multiple projects. The Senior Manager is expected to be adaptable and experienced such that responsibility for other tasks within IFAC can be assumed, should the needs of the organization require it.
Your ability to operate effectively in this role will be predicated on your ability to operate in a changing work environment and with high public expectations of professional accountants, to contribute creatively and technically to drive the delivery of leading-edge standard-setting projects, and to synthesize complex variables facing the profession into creative, cogent proposals that advance high-quality standards.

You are a self-motivated and confident professional with the experience to deliver complex, technical, and sensitive projects, and bring key stakeholders on the journey. You are keenly passionate about the education and development of professional accountants, the effective implementation of international standards, as well as the global accountancy profession.
You are comfortable in a collaborative environment working with a globally diverse multi-cultural group of staff members and volunteers including senior representatives of the accountancy profession and other key accountancy education stakeholders. You also enjoy the challenge of understanding the impact of current and future trends in the profession on the developmental needs of the professional accountants our member organizations support and the international standards that underly these needs.
You have strong drafting skills of technical content, including professional standards. You also enjoy the challenge of analyzing the interactions of technical standards and assessing and addressing the implications of change through information gathering and research.
Your wide-ranging project management experience means you can progress multiple projects effectively in a results-focused way that reflects the optimal impact the project can have for IFACs stakeholders.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work closely with experienced staff, accountancy educators, and volunteers from around the world. You will be responsible for:
• Supporting the standard-setting process for the International Education Standards in conjunction with IFAC's International Panel on Accountancy Education including consideration of relevant supporting initiatives. This will include developing the standards themselves, guidance, and other documents that are clear and concise and that adhere to internal protocols.
• Supporting other aspects of the international standards support activities and awareness raising, adoption and implementation, the website and other digital documents, and other internal organizational activities).
• Supporting the technical input to the independent international standard-setting boards (in particular, the IAASB and IESBA) representing feedback from specific stakeholder constituencies (e.g., small- and medium-sized practices).
• Researching and diagnosing complex problems and developing global, public interest-orientated options and solutions.
• Working with a team of staff or volunteers in a dynamic, collaborative, multi-cultural, and collegial environment.
• Engaging with experts and stakeholders from communities such as regulators, national and international standard setters, accountancy firms, governance groups, and PAOs around the world, as appropriate.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
• A recognized professional accountancy qualification, accounting and/or business postgraduate degree, or other relevant qualification.
• Experience at the senior-manager level in professional practice, business, a PAO, or a regulator.
• Knowledge of issues impacting the accountancy profession and the skills and competencies employed by a professional accountant in daily work.
• Experience in the standard-setting process.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential – knowledge of another language is desirable.
• Excellent organization and project management skills with experience managing senior-level executives in committees or advisory groups.
• A high level of knowledge of international standards including IAASB standards, IESBA Code of Ethics, International Education Standards, International Public Sector Accounting Standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards. Experience in preparing responses to standard-setting consultation processes is highly desirable.

Primary Location (New York City) Salary Range: $140,000 – $188,000
This role will be a hybrid in nature.
