The Corporate Services Department, Language Services Division (CSFLS) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is looking to hire a Spanish Interpreter - Translator/Reviser in the Spanish and Portuguese Section.
• *Duties and Responsibilities:**

Under the general supervision of the Chief of the Spanish and Portuguese Section, the selected candidate will translate documents from English into Spanish. Passive command of French, Portuguese or another language would be considered an asset. In preparing assignments, the candidate will ensure that translations are equivalent in meaning and style to the original text; carefully research points of terminology, language, and subject matter; and use CAT tools and other translation-related software in the process. Translations produced by the candidate are expected to be final, although sensitive documents may be subject to revision and/or review. The candidate shall also revise/review translations prepared by freelancers, and provide coaching and feedback to freelancers.

Qualifications

We are in search of a motivated, innovative candidate, familiar with or capable of learning technical work on assessing financial stability and macro-financial linkages. Specifically, we are looking for someone comfortable with econometric modeling (e.g., panel regressions and structural vector autoregressions).

Capacity to code in MATLAB, R, and other quantitative modeling software would be desirable. The candidate should be able to keep up to date on policy analysis and research in the fast-growing field of quantitative financial stability analysis.

The candidate must be a team player, with demonstrated capacity to deliver under tight deadlines as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

The Budget Officer plays a key role in the resource planning and budgeting process for the department, leading various initiatives, and collaborating on projects and joint work efforts with junior staff in the unit and other staff in divisions as appropriate.

The selected candidate will support the Unit management in developing budgetary policy and the strategic planning framework for the department and contributes to development and monitoring of the Accountability Framework, Vendor Management Framework, and related budget and workforce planning deliverables.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates departmental work programs and budget proposals considering the Fund's overall direction and identified priorities. Analyzes resource planning and allocation issues and makes recommendations based on feasibility, cost-benefit analysis, overall strategy, and business impact.

2. Assists with critical analyses of the budget and resource planning, including planning and coordination of quarterly reviews with divisions and development of projections. Develops reports for departmental management; participates in meetings and contributes to presentations on various topics and to senior management or other divisions. Also contributes to relevant papers and memos.

3. Key contributor to the budget formulation process for the department, evaluates budget requests and develops annual budget estimates for HQ and field-related administrative and capital budgets. Reviews departmental budget requests such as invoices, purchases, vendor contracts, and travel expenditures.

4. Assists in the development of indicators and reporting processes to monitor outputs, inputs, and cost-effectiveness of departmental services. Identifies inefficiencies in work practices or existing policies/procedures and provides suggestions for improvement and streamlining to optimize the allocations of resources.

5. Coordinates with IT support on the design and maintenance of systems used for data gathering and consolidation of divisional projections, and participates in development, testing, training, as needed. Utilizes PowerBI and other reporting applications (FACTS, TIMS, TRACES, iBBIS, Corp Data Warehouse) for data presentation and visualization.

6. Conducts research, analysis, and evaluation of various planning and budgeting issues, and makes recommendations based on feasibility, cost-benefit, strategic direction, business and institutional impact, and industry trends.

7. Contributes to departmental strategy via the Accountability Framework development and monitoring. Contributes to vendor management activities to ensure value for money and strategic alignment of contracts.

Minimum Qualifications

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree in business, finance, budgeting, accounting, statistics, computer science, or related field, or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional certification, or equivalent; or a university degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is required.

In addition:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Fund financial systems including FACTS, TRACES, TIMS, IBBIS.

• Excellent time management and client relations skills and ability to work with staff at all levels and in other departments.

• Ability to logically organize and work with large quantities of data and utilize tools such as PowerBI and the Corporate Data Warehouse for data visualization. Familiarity with Canva is a plus.

Job Summary
