The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) is looking to hire a committed immigration attorney who will provide free and affordable immigration services to underrepresented immigrants in our Las Vegas office as either a Supervising or Staff Attorney (depending on experience).
ICWC is a non-profit legal organization that strives to provide security and stability for immigrants who are... victims of crime and survivors of violence. ICWC primarily works with federal immigration laws that allow marginalized immigrants apply for employment authorization, humanitarian-based relief, and permanent residency.
We believe in a client centered practice, respect for both clients and employees, compassion for immigrants and their families, and empowering survivors to overcome trauma. This is a fast-paced, high-volume office where there is always something new to learn. We desire to create a supportive workplace where self-care is valued. Our primary goal is to provide high-quality legal services to the immigrant community.
Position Description:
ICWC seeks to hire an immigration attorney to join our team of licensed attorneys, DOJ representatives, legal assistants, and administrative support staff. We have reached a crucial growth point where we have both the in house expertise to mentor a practitioner new to the field and also the opportunity for an experienced immigration attorney to take on a supervisory role.
The caseload will involve a mix of affirmative and removal cases, with a focus on services to unaccompanied immigrant children fleeing persecution, abuse, abandonment, and neglect. The attorney will primarily work with humanitarian cases (including Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U Visa, T Visa, and VAWA).
The position is available immediately, but for the right candidate we can be flexible on the start date, to include starting after the July bar exam or after a clerkship ends.
Requirements:
• Juris Doctorate or LLM degree from accredited ABA Law School
• Ability to register and sit for the July 2024 Nevada Bar Exam (if not already licensed in Nevada)
Other Qualifications:
• Spanish language skills strongly preferred (please state your fluency level in your cover letter)
• Immigration law experience (including volunteer and clinical) preferred
• Strong writing skills and meticulous attention to detail
• A demonstrated interest in low-income legal services and/or a commitment to immigrants' rights
• Ability to work effectively with survivors of violence, victims of crime, and those who have experienced other forms of trauma
Benefits:
Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurances, a retirement plan with employer match, FSA (flexible spending account for healthcare and commuting expenses), and reimbursement for some preventative wellness activities and some commuting expenses. Generous paid time off, in addition to office closures for 13 state and federal holidays and a week-long winter break.
To Apply:
Please include a cover letter and resume
