Job Summary: As a Radiation Therapist 2, you will communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors and outside contacts. To help achieve our mission, you will demonstrate essential skills of treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set-up and administer radiation treatments on a daily basis. Performing simulation procedures for initial patient set-up while verifying proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines is of vital importance.

Job Responsibilities:
• Provides education and support of methods appropriate to the patient's level of understanding and motivation. Includes family/caregiver in education and training as appropriate.
• Demonstrates collaboration in communication with team members and is open to feedback and receptive to change as evidenced by team feedback. Communicates with families, physicians or other health care team members in anticipation of special needs of the patients or family in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment of patient.
• Positions patients for initial treatment and verifies set-up per prescription. Verifies beam parameters, ancillary aids and blocking via record and verification system on machine and the patients computerized treatment plan, before initiation of radiation beam.
• Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required. Documents any corrections in chart resulting from changes in the originally prescribed course of treatment.
• Detects unsatisfactory set-up and/or errors, resolves or reports to physician and physics.
• Ensures that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals. Recognizes the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing simulation films and portal films or patient position. Prepares immobilization devices in accordance with physician prescription.
• Positions patient for initial definition of tumor volume to be determined by physician. Films specified treatment volume for review and approval by physician.
• Marks/tattoos appropriate body anatomy for daily re-positioning on linear accelerator. Documents or captures patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations. Acquires CT data sets for patient positioning, contours, and set-up parameters.
• Attends department in-services/conferences and meetings. Keeps abreast of new technology in the field and assist in the development of new techniques, participation in research projects or educational demonstrations. Acquire a minimum of 24 continuing education credits every two years to maintain ARRT certification as a Registered Radiation Therapist.
• Demonstrates knowledge of department treatment modalities and protocols in scheduling, set-up and treatment of patients.
• Performs daily QA on linear accelerators and simulator to verify accurate output of designated parameters. Reports erratic operation of equipment to physics. Verifies operation of emergency shutoffs and interlocks. Reports any discrepancies to physics.
• Participate or provides assistance with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry.

Requirements for consideration:

Experience:
• Two (2) years as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy Department
• Ability to operate Varian linear accelerators and GE simulator equipment with minimal supervision

Education:
• Associate Degree in Radiation Therapy

Certification:
• ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy
• BLS

Inova's IHVI - Cardiology Research department is seeking a Full Time Clinical Research Regulatory Coordinator 1 to join their team.

The Clinical Research Regulatory Coordinator I (CRRC) plays a significant role in supporting a timely study start process and is responsible for collecting and providing sponsors with regulatory documents. Regulatory coordinators must have a working knowledge of institutional, federal and state policies. The position requires frequent interaction with Principal Investigators (PIs) and their research staff, as well as other Inova departments to ensure all regulatory documents and requirements are met and up to date.

You will submit regulatory documents to support initial reviews of studies, continuing reviews, and amendments. The CRRC will respond to questions, generate reports, and maintain research files and documentation involving the regulatory requirements for the study/clinical trial. CRRCs are responsible for clinical studies through the regulatory portion of the trial; maintaining the regulatory integrity of assigned studies from approval to closure. The CRRC I works with other staff on regulatory/compliance issues and collaborates with investigators to resolve all regulatory inquiries.

Job Responsibilities
• Explain basic elements of subject safety including reasoning behind required use of an Institutional Review Board Independent Ethics Committee, study activity documentation, and event reporting requirements. Demonstrate subject protection under direct supervision.
• Explain the investigational products development process and identify key regulations to control these processes.
• Explain and perform study regulatory activities in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), federal regulations, and Inova policies.
• Explain institutional workflows and demonstrate an understanding of the processes required for study compliance.
• Explain the importance of professional conduct and describe leadership principles that impact the effective operation of an investigative site.

The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator I (CRNC I) is a competent clinician who utilizes the nursing process and current clinical knowledge to provide professional nursing care in the context of research study coordination and care. The CRCN I acts as study coordinator for assigned studies and assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient’s physical, learning and psychosocial care. The CRCN I coordinates clinical drug and device study protocols using diverse clinical assessment and administrative skills and knowledge, to ensure that the appropriate data is compiled and reported, protocol and regulatory requirements are met, and study participants follow correct steps. The CRCN I interacts with sponsors, research team members, physicians and study patients. Conducts study protocols in accordance with sponsor requirements, FDA, state regulations and Inova policies and procedures. The CRCN I provides appropriate clinical assessment of the study patients to provide quality care throughout the study and follow up period. Confidentiality and accuracy of all study records will be ensured. The CRNC I will develop a basic level of understanding of study coordination and the ability to perform a variety of tasks under direct supervision. It is anticipated that the entry level CRNC I will be exposed to and have the opportunity to demonstrate their competencies across several different types of clinical studies (investigational products, study phases, therapeutic areas and indications). The CRNC I will maintain all required credentialing and comply with continuing education requirements relevant to nursing and as required by regulation and policy

Job Responsibilities
• Provides patient education and medical information to study patients to ensure understanding of proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment
