Job Duties: A Day in the Life
Assist: Provide world-class customer service
• Resolve situations for customers in a prompt, accurate, and friendly manner.

Position OverviewThe Office of Audit, Risk & Compliance (OARC) provides leadership and university-wide services that strengthen accountability, identify and mitigate significant risks, and investigate and resolve allegations of non-compliance with federal and state laws. As a unit of OARC, Global Risk is responsible for assessing risks associated with international operations, activities and engagements across the university, including management of an effective export control education, licensing, and compliance program. Global Risk coordinates institutional-wide initiatives to understand and apply relevant federal laws and regulations to the wide variety of activities throughout the institution.
Reporting to the university's Director of Global Risk, the Risk & Security Analyst assesses higher-risk transactions involving international travel, procurement, visitors, shipments, contracts, and collaborations. The role is expected to develop into a subject matter expert on U.S. export control regulations as well as duty of care obligations and risk management related to international activities. With a primary focus on the KU Medical Center, the incumbent will engage broadly across the entire university including with faculty, students, administrators and diverse stakeholders from many backgrounds and experiences. The role is expected to consistently demonstrate customer service focus, providing timely and quality answers to inquiries and assistance with emergent issues.

Job Description45% Risk Assessment:
• Collect, research, aggregate, and analyze complex data and author risk assessment products that assist leadership and stakeholders in decision making.
• Assess international travel requests for security and safety concerns. Provide training and security briefings to travelers to mitigate risk.
• Serve on KUMC and other campus committees supporting visitor registration implementation, international activities, including business, research, and professional and educational travel.
• Collaborate with university subject matter experts and stakeholders to operationalize strategies that reduce and mitigate security risks.
• Conduct training and informational briefings for departmental stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of standards, and policies to identify, assess, prevent, and mitigate threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.

45% Export Compliance:
• Evaluate applicability of U.S. export control regulations to underlying activities and items.
• Perform and evaluate Restricted Party and export control screenings as needed and validate results obtained by other users. This includes screening parties and activities routed through KUMC and KU systems as well as ad hoc screening upon request.
• Serve as a point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance, including participating in faculty and staff training and education.
• Participate in planning, organizing, and supporting export compliance training and other compliance initiatives.
• Respond to inquiries on the application of export control regulations and licensing policies/practices/guidelines to international transactions and program activities in a timely and customer focused manner.
• Assist in development and maintenance of training aids for export controls and procedures.
• Prepare and submit export license applications under the supervision of the Export Compliance Officer.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience (willing to consider applicants new to export controls)
• Experience with analyzing complex documents and/or situations and identify workable solutions.
• Experience in conducting detailed research activities and use of analytical skills to reach decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships, work in a team environment, and interact will all levels of staff and researchers in formal/informal settings as demonstrated through application materials, interview, and references.
• Experience in conducting or producing verbal and/or written reports in a deadline driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Position OverviewThe Office of Audit, Risk & Compliance (OARC) provides leadership and university-wide services that strengthen accountability, identify and mitigate significant risks, and investigate and resolve allegations of non-compliance with federal and state laws. As a unit of OARC, Global Risk is responsible for assessing risks associated with international operations, activities and engagements across the university, including management of an effective export control education, licensing, and compliance program. Global Risk coordinates institutional-wide initiatives to understand and apply relevant federal laws and regulations to the wide variety of activities throughout the institution.
Reporting to the university's Director of Global Risk, the Risk & Security Analyst assesses higher-risk transactions involving international travel, procurement, visitors, shipments, contracts, and collaborations. The role is expected to develop into a subject matter expert on U.S. export control regulations as well as duty of care obligations and risk management related to international activities. With a primary focus on the KU Medical Center, the incumbent will engage broadly across the entire university including with faculty, students, administrators and diverse stakeholders from many backgrounds and experiences. The role is expected to consistently demonstrate customer service focus, providing timely and quality answers to inquiries and assistance with emergent issues.

Job Description45% Risk Assessment:
• Collect, research, aggregate, and analyze complex data and author risk assessment products that assist leadership and stakeholders in decision making.
• Assess international travel requests for security and safety concerns. Provide training and security briefings to travelers to mitigate risk.
• Serve on KUMC and other campus committees supporting visitor registration implementation, international activities, including business, research, and professional and educational travel.
• Collaborate with university subject matter experts and stakeholders to operationalize strategies that reduce and mitigate security risks.
• Conduct training and informational briefings for departmental stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of standards, and policies to identify, assess, prevent, and mitigate threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current on new technologies, innovation, information, etc. related to international risk management in higher education.
45% Export Compliance:
• Evaluate applicability of U.S. export control regulations to underlying activities and items.
• Perform and evaluate Restricted Party and export control screenings as needed and validate results obtained by other users. This includes screening parties and activities routed through KUMC and KU systems as well as ad hoc screening upon request.
• Serve as a point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance, including participating in faculty and staff training and education.
• Participate in planning, organizing, and supporting export compliance training and other compliance initiatives.
• Respond to inquiries on the application of export control regulations and licensing policies/practices/guidelines to international transactions and program activities in a timely and customer focused manner.
• Assist in development and maintenance of training aids for export controls and procedures.
• Prepare and submit export license applications under the supervision of the Export Compliance Officer.
10% Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to:
• Maintain a strong service focus by developing productive working relationships and regular communication with OARC leadership and key personnel.
• Support and partner with key personnel on advisory groups and/or steering committees.
• Mentor student interns in performance of their work to support the Office's mission.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through collaboration and institutional community involvement.
• Support other office communications as assigned.
• Respond to routine queries or direct to the appropriate staff.
Position Requirements
• Travel: Less than 20%, in-state-primarily to the KU Lawrence Campus (Lawrence, KS)

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience (willing to consider applicants new to export controls)
• Experience with analyzing complex documents and/or situations and identify workable solutions.
• Experience in conducting detailed research activities and use of analytical skills to reach decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships, work in a team environment, and interact will all levels of staff and researchers in formal/informal settings as demonstrated through application materials, interview, and references.
• Experience in conducting or producing verbal and/or written reports in a deadline driven environment.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills demonstrating experience to clearly communicate complex information to various groups.
Preferred Qualifications
• Education specific to security management, emergency management, national security, international affairs, or public safety
• Experience working in the U.S. Armed Forces or federal government concerning international and national security issues, law enforcement, or security management (government or corporate)
• Demonstrated understanding of geo-political issues
• Knowledge of Export Administration Regulation (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), and OFAC
• Experience living, studying, working, or extensive travel abroad
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance

The Opportunity

The Nursing Supervisor for Camber Children's Mental Health serves as the Nursing Department’s liaison when working with senior hospital leaders to improve and innovate programs. The Nursing Supervisor will ensure the comfort and safety of patients and families and establish standards of nursing care and practice as defined by... the Kansas State Board of Nursing, the State of Kansas and KVC Health Systems.

Pay Rate: $73,000 depending on education and experience.
Education Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited college or university. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Experience Requirements:
At least two years of prior experience or training in psychiatric nursing.
