Key responsibilities
• The role holder will ensure accurate and timely management of research funding from award to closure, including:

This role will report to the Associate Director, Development – Health and will focus on securing principal gifts (+£3m gift level) for King’s College London (KCL) Health/King’s Health Partners (KHP) priorities while retaining the flexibility to work across the Arts & Sciences (A&S) portfolio to respond to a prospect’s interests and giving priorities.
With responsibility for managing and developing a personal portfolio of ultra-high-net-worth individuals with the capacity to give seven figure plus gifts, the postholder will work closely with the Principal, Council and members of... the University’s senior leadership to build meaningful, long-term philanthropic relationships. F&SD is currently in the planning stages of a major new philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale fundraising activity for KCL and KHP. To support these plans the College is looking for an exceptional fundraiser to take on the new role of Strategic Philanthropy Manager (Health) and nurture global donor relationships at the highest level, with a focus on Principal Gifts.

Key responsibilities
• Managed by the Associate Director, Development – Health, and in close collaboration with the wider Philanthropy Leadership Team, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of the University’s Principal Gifts strategy with a focus on health priorities. This will include building a plan to engage family offices, donor advised funds, wealth advisors and grow family foundation engagement working at the +£3m gift level.
• Play an active role in the F&SD Principal Gifts working group, chaired by the Director of Development, which will set the PG strategy, deliver the PG operational plan, and ensure university-wide gift opportunities are maximised. The role will see you represent the Health portfolio at a PG level and, where appropriate, collaborate and engage with colleagues in the A&S and International teams to secure large scale gifts. This working group will also develop the cultivation and stewardship plans for donors and prospects whose relationship with the University is fronted by the Principal and/or Executive Deans/senior stakeholders.
• Manage a portfolio of up to 60 prospects with a primary focus on qualifying prospects and closing gifts of £3M+. Plan and implement engagement and cultivation strategies which will bring donors/prospects closer to King’s/KHP. Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal gift prospects to align benefactor interests with the strategic objectives of KCL and KHP.
• Develop strong external relationships with the University’s most significant philanthropists with the capacity to give at principal gift level, with a focus on KCL Health/KHP priorities, ensuring these individuals are cultivated and solicited, either directly or through senior stakeholders.
• Develop strong internal relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure philanthropic outcomes and impact are achieved. This will see the postholder working closely with the Principal, College Council and leading academics/clinicians, building strategic relationships which will help to secure transformational gifts.
• Disseminate and present complex & specialised information about the KCL Health/KHP fundraising priorities to prospects and internal stakeholders in a clear and compelling way. Work with relevant colleagues within F&SD and across the University/KHP to develop powerful asks which balance institutional priorities with the prospect’s philanthropic ambitions and motivation to give.
• Produce thorough briefings for colleagues & senior management prior to meetings with principal gift donors.
• Work with the Prospect Research team to broaden and deepen support from principal donors for KCL Health/KHP priorities, identifying new prospective donors and cultivating further support by building a portfolio of influencers.
• Accurately record prospect information gathered in the cultivation and stewardship process on the database, facilitating future fundraising and stewardship activity in addition to the production of management reports and your own research of prospects.
• To generate high levels of annual income according to agreed targets, guided by the achievement of a small but clearly defined set of monthly key performance indicators.
• Work with the Donor Relations and Special Events teams to design and deliver exception stewardship and engagement opportunities.
• Provide leadership to the Major Gifts team, acting as a near-peer-coach and supporting junior colleagues to bring in new business and develop mutually beneficial, transformational relationships.
• Contribute to the success of the KCL & KHP Philanthropy Directorate through active participation in discussion, annual plans and strategy decisions, team development and providing collegiate support across the team and directorate.

Key responsibilities
• Lead on the team’s prospect management strategy to enable effective major gift fundraising and maximise income generation across all partners
• Be the joint central point of contact for the major gifts team on prospect management. This will include overseeing the schedule of regular portfolio reviews with fundraisers and regularly communicating on prospect management-related issues

• Advocate best practice in the recording and processing of prospect data on te CRM, ensuring data is accurate, relevant, and processed as per the team’s Data Protection Policy and in line with The Data Protection Act 1998/ the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
