Job Summary/Description:
KTRE is looking for a weekday evening newscast producer who is a self starter with good news judgement. A successful candidate will be able to select stories , build newscast rundown, edit video and write content for 6p and 10p half hour newscast.This position is based in our main Tyler facility.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Selecting local, state and national stories to air in weekday evening newscast
- Building show rundowns
- Communicating and assisting field reporters
- Editing stories
- Writing
- Computer skills
- Required to work weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Journalism degree or similar is preferred
- Internship or relevant experience/skillsets
- Must be an avid news consumer who thrives under tight deadlines
- Professional non-linear editing knowledge
- Ability to communicate and work well in a team environment
- Experience with ENPS and Edius video editing a plus, but not required

The role of the Content Producer will be to communicate and manage the raw material being sent back to the newsroom by Content Gatherers. The Content Producer then decides which platforms (TV, digital, streaming live channel, or social media) the material would work best and what the format should be.
Ultimately, the Content Producer then either assigns or creates that material for immediate publishing on the different platforms. KLTV is breaking free from some dated protocols: the PKG is no longer treated as the staple of the field reporter's day, and our days aren't spent operating under traditional 6pm news deadlines. Our parent company heavily invested into KLTV's creation of the newsroom of the future more than three years ago.
We have a long history of success and winning.
