The DMC (Deseret Management Corporation) combined newsroom is a 24-hour provider of news and information represented by KSL-TV, KSL Radio, Deseret News, KSL.com and DeseretNews.com. The Assignment Desk Editor will gather, disperse and... coordinate coverage of news across all of the DMC platforms and act as the central hub of the newsroom for gathering and providing information and details. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and coordinate daily assignments and breaking news coverage for reporters, photographers, freelance personnel, etc. across all platforms Coordinate the gathering and dissemination of pertinent information among reporters, photographers and other staff members Set up and plan long-term coverage, including coordination across platforms Respond quickly and efficiently to breaking news Monitor websites, social media, police and fire scanners and other breaking news alerts Work with platform managers and producers to develop content and information Communicate coverage wants and needs with all platform managers and field crews Make beat calls to sources and agencies and gather information from public agencies Maintain records and update stories on Dash Interact with and serve all platforms in a professional manner Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a newsroom environment, preferably at assignment desk, with background in journalism and/or communications. Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills. High level of ability to articulate and communicate clearly with other people. Assertive and capable of making decisions quickly while effectively communicating those decisions to others and maintaining a level of confidence under scrutiny. High level of organization, with ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks effectively and efficiently. Interest in and knowledge of local news issues. Ability to work with moderate supervision, confidential information and be a self-starter. Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments. A high level of proficiency with computers, software and new technologies. Position Overview
To be a fully contributing member of the News Department team by producing interesting, relevant newscasts that meet the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, balance, sensitivity, and timeliness. The producer will assume primary responsibility for assigned newscast(s), including evaluating stories, organizing them into a cohesive sequence within a newscast, and overseeing writing, production, and timing of broadcast. (NOTE: Management reserves the right to assign producer responsibilities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon the producer's proven capabilities and the company's present and future needs. A producer may be assigned to produce any newscast.)

What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Write, produce and edit material for a newscast that appeals to targeted audiences.

• Three years successful experience as producer or associate producer in a broadcasting environment or equivalent.

• Able to be creative, aggressive and energetic, reflecting maximum quality and professionalism to build audience share, with excellent judgement.
• Self-starter capable of performing and handling stress, particularly during peak hours to meet deadlines, as the services performed have short and long-term effects on the company and viewing public.
• Have the ability to organize, delegate and motivate other people in order to coordinate news activities from conceptualization to successful execution.

Position Overview
To be a fully contributing member of the News Department team by producing interesting, relevant newscasts that meet the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, balance, sensitivity, and timeliness. The producer will assume primary responsibility for assigned newscast(s), including evaluating stories, organizing them into a cohesive sequence within a newscast, and overseeing writing, production, and timing of broadcast. (NOTE: Management reserves the right to assign producer responsibilities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon the producer's proven capabilities and the company's present and future needs. A producer may be assigned to produce any newscast.)

• Able to be creative, aggressive and energetic, reflecting maximum quality and professionalism to build audience share, with excellent judgement.
• Self-starter capable of performing and handling stress, particularly during peak hours to meet deadlines, as the services performed have short and long-term effects on the company and viewing public.
• Have the ability to organize, delegate and motivate other people in order to coordinate news activities from conceptualization to successful execution.
• Have proven record of dependability and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Consistently works hours required. Work more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, overnight, evenings, overtime, etc.

You will be working in our one-of-a-kind, integrated multi-platform newsroom to ensure newscasts meet the highest journalistic and production standards. • Overnight shift: Monday-Friday, 12:00 am to 4:45 am
• Evening shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 pm to 12:00 am
• A true On-Call position, to fill in as needed in an exciting and fast-paced 24h environment

What You Will Do:

• Full focus and ownership of shift on-air console operations including: maintaining accurate transmitter and program logs, airing commercials per program logs, airing emergency alerts, recording satellite feeds, ensuring transmitter is operating according to FCC parameters, ensuring all audio elements are problem free before air, and updating discrepancy reports with all occurrences that depart from the program log or quality goals set by station management
• Check studio equipment for proper functioning prior to going on-air, reporting technical problems and equipment malfunctions
• Clearly and succinctly communicate regularly with hosts, anchors and producers on upcoming show elements. Monitor clock and provide cues to talent to ensure program continuity
• Coordinate the appropriate mix of music and sound for assigned shows, and ensure that levels are mixed properly
• Cross-train and maintain working knowledge of all board operator shifts; fill in for team mates as needed
• Cut audio from weekday talk shows and upload as multiple podcasts that have engaging titles and SEO-heavy descriptions
• Assist talk show producers in creating varied and unique content for posting to show's social media accounts
• Screen phone calls as needed
• Work with producers to create/edit "best of" library for assigned shows
• Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor; maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients
