Position Overview
Bonneville Phoenix internships are semester-long opportunities for college students to gain a fuller understanding of the braodcast industry and expand their skill sets. This internship is in our News/Talk department.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Phoenix site.
What You Will Do:
KTAR 92.3 FM NEWS/TALK INTERNSHIP (This intern will split their time between news and talk on KTAR News 92.3 FM.)
News – Purpose is to learn all aspects of the radio newsroom by experiencing it first-hand. The intern will be given the opportunity to pull audio, learn how to conduct interviews and create content for on-air and online distribution.
Talk – Purpose is to learn the ins and outs of producing a quality talk show while developing and honing talk host skills. The interns will observe and interact with talk show producers and hosts, edit and produce talk show podcasts/interviews, learn how to operate the on-air audio console, help select stories for talk shows, observe the talk show prep process and learn how to screen talk show callers.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be currently registered as a college/university student, eligible to receive internship credit through their educational institution.
Basic computer knowledge.
Schedule is between 15 and 25 hours per week depending on school requirements.
No guarantee of employment upon completion of internship
Physical Demands
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Compensation Range
$13.85 per hour.

Digital Content – Purpose is to learn all aspects of digital’s contribution in the newsroom. The intern will gain experience in writing and publishing quality sports news stories from press releases, interviews, raw audio, aggregation and social media. The intern will also learn about the strategy and planning needed to maintain a sports news website.
Sports Programming (98.7 FM) – Purpose is to learn the “behind-the-scenes” aspect of sports programming. The intern will observe and interact with sports talk show producers and hosts, learn how to pull audio and how to edit and use that audio for a show, learn how to produce and edit sports interviews and learn how a talk show comes together from planning to execution.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 18 years of age.

POSTION PURPOSE:
Bonneville Phoenix is looking for energetic, outgoing, individuals who are interested in representing our stations, KTAR News 92.3 FM and 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station at station appearances and events in the community. In this role you will provide support to the station promotions and sales departments on remote events, special projects, assignments and more. Due to the nature of the job, hours and shifts will vary from week to week and are based on scheduled events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executing station events and remotes in the community
Conducting contests and fulfilling prizes according to station policies and rules at events
Maintain vehicles, banners, and all associated promotional assets
Implement knowledge of Bonneville brands to listeners at station events
Be a positive representative of stations while interacting with listeners
Other marketing/promotional department duties as assigned by manager and Program Director
Duties and responsibilities may be subject to change at any time based on the needs of the station
WHO YOU ARE:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Positive and energetic attitude
Excel in unsupervised solo assignments as well as team projects
Reliable, responsible, dependable, and able to fulfill obligations
Flexible schedule and able to work days, nights and weekends
Willing to be flexible with work environment i.e., working outdoors in any condition, at festivals, local businesses, etc.
Valid driver license with proven ability to safely drive a personal and/or company (as circumstances may provide) vehicle without exposing company to serious liability risks
Prefer applicants with previous public relations experience in broadcasting or related business
Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
