JOB DESCRIPTION

KTVU, Fox 2, is seeking an experienced reporter to work in our San Jose bureau, located in the largest city in the Bay Area. An ideal candidate will be able to develop sources and manage daily story ideas in the region, with little oversight. Must be able to p rovide original news content for KTVU FOX 2, ktvu.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following: gather information and write news stories, conduct taped and live interviews and be able to present material in a compelling and engaging manner. Must contribute to digital and social media efforts; initiate research and enterprise stories; update and follow up on stories and communicate with managers and assignment editors about past, current and future stories. Additional duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

Must have a broad working knowledge of police procedures, the court system, and municipal, state and federal government operations and must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters of reporting for mass media. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, and possess expertise in researching material essential to putting together comprehensive news stories. Must be a strong writer and communicator and have demonstrated interview skills. A professional appearance is essential. Must annunciate clearly, and maintain a clear delivery during both live and taped reports. Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus. 4-year college degree required with emphasis in Communications and Journalisms preferred. 3 -5 years' experience in a medium to major market.

This is a per diem position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

KTVU is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to conduct repairs and preventative maintenance of broadcast equipment--both IT/server-based and video-based. Works under the direction of Engineering management to research, obtain, and implement equipment, test devices, and perform maintenance/operating procedures.

Repairs and maintains broadcast systems, including systems that are computer-based.

Shares information and knowledge of this specialty area with other staff members, by adhering to the documentation requirements at KTVU, which include creating rack elevation views, block diagrams and detailed schematic and by training co-workers on new systems that you design and/or install. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and at least four years related experience in TV station maintenance, including digital; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Particular emphasis will be placed on experience with software applications, operating systems and general-purpose troubleshooting in a network environment. Experience with layers 1, 2 and 3 network switches is considered a plus. SBE certifications desirable. Membership in IBEW union required. A+ and other computer based certifications are highly desirable. Must have the ability to work with end-users of software-based systems in order to solve issues in large network-based systems is an important skill that is required. The ability to understand network-based communications links between corporate locations in other cities and the systems at KTVU will be required.
