Essential Job Functions
• Receives request from physician for special radiographic procedure.
• Based on the physician's tentative diagnosis, determines equipment requirements for the procedure and scout films necessary for physician's preliminary viewing.
• Tests special equipment such as contrast media injectors, program selectors, and film changers for function prior to examination to ensure that equipment elements are timed and synchronized to operate at desired intervals.
• Loads cut or roll film changers and cine cameras, making certain of correct sequencing and film transport, and/or digital imaging.
• Sets program selector in accordance with protocol, and uses independent judgment to reset program selector in accordance with physician's desired examination results.
• Positions the patient with care to avoid discomfort; attempts to decrease anxiety of the critically ill by giving assurance and describing the function of the equipment and expected cooperation of the patient.
• Takes scout films for physician's preliminary view, using kilovoltage, milliamperage and distance settings specified by protocol and refined by the technologist's evaluation of the patient's ability to cooperate, and his physical characteristics such as density and thickness.
• Maintains the desired image on the monitor of the progress of arterial and heart catheterization by adjusting the overhead image intensifier, the patient or the special procedure table.

• Makes radiographs on roll film, cut film and cine film.
• Maintains critical positioning of the patient during flow of the contrast media, such as in the encephalogram procedure, to ensure safety of the patient and success of examination results.
• Assume the basic functions of another member of the team, such as the nurse or cardiovascular technician, when that member is unavailable.
• Exercises a knowledge of needles, catheters, sterile techniques and drugs needed in each examination.

Essential Job Functions
What will I do as a Youth Worker General Labor?
Receive on-the-job training, and under direct supervision participate in entry level work in one of a variety of job assignments.
Assist crew leaders in performing sluicing, booming, and removal of debris at dams and reservoirs.
Perform manual work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets or bicycle trails in flood access roads as needed.
Assist in the maintenance of drains, catch basins, curbs, gutters, head walls, and driveway aprons by tamping underlayment, mixing concrete, wheel barrowing concrete to the work site, lifting and carrying concrete blocks, and providing tools to more experienced workers.
Assist in sewer maintenance work, such as cleaning sewer lines with the use of specialized hand or power operated tools and equipment, including sewer cleaning machines, pumps, air compressors, blowers, gas detection devices, closed circuit television equipment, etc.
Requirements
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION I:
Completion of 120 hours of career exposure with the County of Los Angeles Department of Human Resources' Countywide Youth Bridges Program; must be age 24 or younger at time of appointment.
OPTION II:
Completion of 300 hours of the County of Los Angeles Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services' Creating Opportunities and Real Experiences (CORE) internship career exposure program; must be age 24 or younger at time of appointment.

What will I do as a Youth Worker General Labor?
Receive on-the-job training, and under direct supervision participate in entry level work in one of a variety of job assignments.
Assist crew leaders in performing sluicing, booming, and removal of debris at dams and reservoirs.
Perform manual work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets or bicycle trails in flood access roads as needed.
Assist in the maintenance of drains, catch basins, curbs, gutters, head walls, and driveway aprons by tamping underlayment, mixing concrete, wheel barrowing concrete to the work site, lifting and carrying concrete blocks, and providing tools to more experienced workers.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

Positions supervise the activities of minors who are detained in juvenile halls. Incumbents serve as a member of a small team responsible for the order and security of a unit of probation youth, transports minors to medical care facilities and/or courts or other locations, and provides situational counseling, as necessary. Detention Services Officers must be able to physically restrain combative probation youth.
Essential Job Functions
• Supervises detained probation youth in their activities within the unit, on work assignments, during recreation periods, on medical or dental appointments, or awaiting court appearances.
• Maintains order and control of a unit and takes appropriate action in connection with rule infractions or other disturbances.
• Maintains institutional security and takes appropriate action to prevent escapes.
• Supervises the movement of probation youth within and outside the facility.
• Controls and restrains combative or emotionally disturbed probation youth.
• Observes and records the behavior of probation youth and confers with the supervisor about problematic probation youth.
Requirements

Completion of 60 semester* or 90 quarter* units from an accredited college including course work in the behavioral or social sciences such as psychology, sociology or criminology.
Candidates must meet the qualifications for designation as a Peace Officer within the Probation Department, including, but not limited to:

Essential Job Functions
Participates in the research, writing, and public engagement and discussion regarding the adoption of the County's general plan, area, coastal, community, and neighborhood plan policies, and other specialized plans and studies such as the County's Sustainability Plan.
Participates in the research and drafting of zoning, subdivision, and other land use regulations.
Participates in the analysis of complex planning problems, the preparation of population and other planning projections, housing needs, and parking studies.
Responds in writing or orally to inquiries from the public on General Plan policy, and subdivision and zoning regulations.
Processes applications for subdivisions, zone changes, variances, and conditional use permits.
Evaluates applications for consistency with General Plan policy, and compliance with zoning and subdivision regulations.
Conducts field inspections, prepares staff reports and public notices, coordinates with other public agencies, and follows all other necessary procedures for public hearings.
Analyzes, reviews and prepares environmental documents including Initial Studies, Negative Declarations, and both the draft and final versions of the Environmental Impact Reports in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Explains County and State environmental regulations to the general public and project applicants.
Investigates and analyzes property ownership, recorded property ownership and zoning histories; gathers and consolidates data from public records and other sources to assist in the development of written staff reports in support of recommendations for official action.
Investigates violations of zoning regulations, and discusses alleged violations with property owners, complainants, community groups, the Board of Supervisors, County Counsel, the District Attorney, and other enforcement agencies, and may make court appearances.
Prepares and makes oral presentations of planning development applications, zoning and other planning related information to the Regional Planning Commission, and civic, community, governmental, professional, and other interest groups.
Prepares graphics, exhibits, maps, and other audio-visual illustrations to present findings and critical issues of planning studies in support of the department's recommendations.
Uses computer programs or planning applications to accept applications and process fees and prepare reports, maps, spreadsheets, data bases and/or graphics in carrying out planning activities.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS
Positions allocated to this class are non-peace officer positions assigned to provide security in and around County facilities and properties of public agencies contracting Sheriff Department security services. Positions in this class are distinguished from the lower level class of Security Assistant, Sheriff by the requirement to carry a firearm while in the performance of their duties and more extensive knowledge of departmental security techniques, policies and procedures, and the exercise of independent judgment in providing security at both County facilities and other public facilities as designated by the Sheriff. Incumbents must distinguish between circumstances in which counseling, admonition and explanation will serve to maintain a peaceful environment or where the intervention of law enforcement personnel is necessary, and respond to and/or report situations appropriately. Incumbents of this class serve a nine (9) month probationary period during which they receive training in the care and use of firearms, proper firearms safety procedures, and related training in Department regulations and legal limitations on the use of firearms or other forms of force under Section 831 of the Penal Code.
Essential Job Functions
• Works a fixed post or tours the inner/outer perimeter of a facility or campus to detect or prevent individuals or groups from committing acts, which are injurious to others or to property within or around a facility.
• Intervenes to terminate injurious acts, conducts searches of individuals for weapons, illegal devices, or contraband and detains individuals for further investigation or arrest where circumstances and conditions warrant such action.
• Directs visitors to personnel and services within a facility.
• Investigates questionable acts or behavior observed or reported on premises and questions witnesses and suspects to ascertain or verify facts.
• Pursues, apprehends and detains persons observed injuring others or damaging property, and detains suspects pending transportation and booking by local law enforcement agency.
• Participates, with sworn personnel, in securing facilities and conducting searches.

• Ensures that only authorized employees, vendors or other appropriately identified persons are permitted access to closed or restricted areas and detains unidentified or unauthorized persons.

• Explains and interprets organizational procedures and practices to lower level security personnel.
• Utilizes fixed and hand-held scanning devices to detect unauthorized weapons or devices.
• Monitors alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment and responds to locally activated fire, burglary or other alarms.
• Relays reports of bomb threats to the appropriate law enforcement jurisdiction and participates in organized searches.
• Reports safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment and other such matters to appropriate personnel.
• Writes daily activity, incident and non-employee injury reports.
• Operates miscellaneous equipment and/or motor vehicles including use of bicycles as required in the conduct of routine patrol or to report to alternate assignment posts in accordance with emergent staffing needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
AGE
Must be 18 years of age at the time of filing.
EDUCATION
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent high school proficiency or higher education. Evidence of equivalent high school proficiency includes having successfully passed the GED, TASC, HiSET, or CHSPE.
Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the approved organizations listed by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) https://www.naces.org/members or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) http://aice-eval.org. These organizations are private enterprises who charge a fee for their services.
LICENSE
A valid California class "C" driver license is required to perform job-related essential functions. Applicants must possess a current, non-expired California class "C" driver license or above at the time of application.
Out-of-state applicants must have a valid license from the state in which they reside at the time of application and will be required to obtain a California class "C" driver license or above by the time of appointment.

Applicants must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the multiple choice test to be placed on the eligible register. Applicants who fail the test may retake the test once every three (3) months. The multiple-choice test is not reviewable by applicants per Civil Service Rule 7.19.

REAPPLY PROCEDURE
Applicants who have participated in the examination process for any one of the Law Enforcement Job Family (LEJF) positions and who do not achieve a qualifying score, must wait three (3) months after the date of the failed test to reapply for any of the LEJF examinations. PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT (PHS)
Candidates will be required to complete a Personal History Statement (PHS). Candidates will be emailed a link with instructions on how to complete and upload the PHS. Candidates are required to submit specific documents (i.e., driver license, social security card, birth/marriage certificate(s), etc.). It is the candidates' responsibility to bring both original documents and copies to their background intake appointment. Department representatives will verify the copies against the original documents, and return all original documents to the candidates.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
A thorough background investigation will be conducted which includes, but is not limited to; discrepancy interviews, a Live Scan (fingerprint search), polygraph examination, law enforcement agency checks, and residence/employment checks. Candidates who complete the background investigation may be selected for the position and will be extended a conditional offer of employment prior to the psychological and medical evaluations.

PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
The psychological evaluation consists of a four (4) hour test. Once candidates have completed the test, they will meet with a psychologist.

MEDICAL EVALUATION
The medical evaluation assesses physical ability, ensuring capability to participate in the demanding duties of the position.

Successful completion of the mandatory five (5) week Department sponsored in-service training program is required prior to final appointment.

Examples of disqualifying factors include but are not limited to: failure to appear to scheduled appointments, felony convictions, job related misdemeanor convictions, certain serious traffic convictions or patterns, suspended license, driving under the influence, poor credit or employment history, substance abuse, and active criminal probation.
PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT (PHS)
Candidates will be required to complete a Personal History Statement (PHS). Candidates will be emailed a link with instructions on how to complete and upload the PHS. Candidates are required to submit specific documents (i.e., driver license, social security card, birth/marriage certificate(s), etc.). It is the candidates' responsibility to bring both original documents and copies to their background intake appointment. Department representatives will verify the copies against the original documents, and return all original documents to the candidates.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
A thorough background investigation will be conducted which includes, but is not limited to; discrepancy interviews, a Live Scan (fingerprint search), polygraph examination, law enforcement agency checks, and residence/employment checks. Candidates who complete the background investigation may be selected for the position and will be extended a conditional offer of employment prior to the psychological and medical evaluations.
• Candidates who are disqualified from the background investigation may be ineligible to reapply for any Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department position(s) for a minimum of twelve (12) months.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
The psychological evaluation consists of a four (4) hour test. Once candidates have completed the test, they will meet with a psychologist.
• Candidates who do not pass the psychological evaluation will be ineligible to reapply for the position for a minimum of twelve (12) months.
MEDICAL EVALUATION
The medical evaluation assesses physical ability, ensuring capability to participate in the demanding duties of the position.

ACADEMY TRAINING
Successful completion of the mandatory five (5) week Department sponsored in-service training program is required prior to final appointment.

NO SHARING OF USER ID AND PASSWORD
