CSM Librarians work closely with students inside our libraries, in the classroom, and online to promote student success. Librarians teach a range of face-to-face and online classes. TEACHING DUTIES AND STANDARDS - 50%

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Student Zone Helper assists students in-person in completing their own school assignments by utilizing a variety of resources in the Los Angeles Public Library's Student Zones, including digital resources. The Student Zone Helper will be assigned to a Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) branch (one of the libraries listed below) for a schedule that is Monday – Thursday, for a 3-hour shift anywhere between 2:30 – 7:00pm (hours vary by location). • Answering simple questions and referring more complex reference questions to library staff.
• Assisting students in using electronic equipment.
• Ensuring that students adhere to the library rules of behavior and rules of conduct.
• Assisting library staff in maintaining records of participants, preparing reports of the Student Zone and collecting data such as evaluations and attendance sheets.
• Complete field reports for each student that visits the Student Zone and submit Monthly Feedback Reports
• Submit paper and electronic timesheets on ADP in a timely manner to ensure that hours are accurately tracked and processed
• Attend SZH mandatory trainings throughout the year
• Assisting librarians in determining what apps and computer programs will best suit the needs of the users of the Student Zones.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

• Must be 18 years or older

After completing the six week training, you will work with a mentor to oversee your practice tours. When you are ready to tour alone, we ask for a commitment of two tours a month, or 24 tours per year.
