Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform the necessary repairs for vehicles including but not limited to repairing engine failures, especially relating to transmissions.
• Able to use and understand diagnostic resources such as Mitchell On Demand, All Data computer applications as well as other related tools to diagnose problems for a diverse amount of vehicles.
• Is a self starter and able to work under pressure
• Needs minimal supervision
• Available to perform many different tasks within the shop during each shift.
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to pass a DOT physical, including drug screen
• Good driving record: No more than 2 moving violations in the past 24 months or 3 moving violations in the past 36 months
• No DUI’s, DWI in the last 10 years
• No more than 1 preventable (DOT recordable) accident in the past 12 months
• At least 3 -5 + years experience preferred
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Road test customer vehicles.
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and repair needs.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Examine the vehicle to determine if any additional safety or service work needed.
• Advise service advisor (s) immediately if additional work is needed. Work with team members to develop accurate timeline for the completion of work.
• Document work performed and recommended on the repair order. Upon completion of work return repair order to Service Advisor.
• Ensure that customers’ cars are kept clean, undamaged. Notifies service advisor and/or service manager immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all shop/company owned tools at all times.
