ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Programming and Workshops
• Helps to enhance the University experience for all students, with emphasis on underrepresented and historically marginalized groups, by advertising and assisting student organizations in developing sustainable cross-cultural activities, resolutions, and ongoing initiatives such as study groups, alumni partnerships, and community service projects.
• Plan, schedule, assess and facilitate student, faculty and staff programs and workshops in collaboration with Student Life in support of the mission of fostering a community of learners who contribute to an environment of inclusive and academic excellence based on the values of human difference and individual contribution.
• Advises the Intercultural Student Council and serves as a campus advocate, coach and resource for all cultural, LGBTQ+ and faith-oriented student organizations, in collaboration with Student Involvement and Leadership Development.
• Support Residence Life in providing training to Community Advisors on topics related to EDIJ and collaborate to provide programming for residential students in the residence halls.

Assessment
• Oversee the budget for the unit and allocate funds for programs and initiatives in alignment with departmental priorities.
• Assist with measuring the effectiveness of strategic initiatives within the Office of EDIJ such as co-curricular learning and student engagement. Projects vary from year to year and will include assisting with the assessment of direct student learning outcomes of cultural programming

Public Relations and Promotions
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with campus partners, admissions, and community support organizations and leaders from underrepresented communities by networking and developing new relationships.
• Edit, coordinate and implement department newsletter each semester
• Coordinate social media initiatives
• Prepare and present in LU 101 orientation course
• Train and co-supervise student leaders
• Prepare materials for and attend tabling for university events
• Attend and supervise student programming including but not limited to evening and weekend programs

Service, Professional Development and Collaboration
• Serve on committees, councils or working groups where representation of culture and EDIJ is important to help serve students of historically marginalized populations
• Participate in professional development seminars and workshops on and off campus
• Keep up on student affairs and higher education trends that relate to culture and EDIJ
• Attend professional development opportunities as resources allow
Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience working with and supporting underrepresented student populations.
• Experience in program development and facilitation.
• Evidence of working knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft products.

Current partnerships make use of Illustrative Mathematics and Eureka (Engage NY) math texts, as well as some other resources. Candidate should be familiar and well-versed with these texts. Candidate should be able to differentiate math lessons to support learners while maintaining mathematical rigor as well as support teachers in adapting lessons to be more culturally responsive. Other responsibilities include leading content coaching cycles with teachers and coaches to support ongoing professional development. We use the Content Coaching model as developed by Lucy West and Antonia Cameron (Agents of Change: How Content Coaching Transforms Teaching). Familiarity with this model is preferred, but not required. Ongoing training will be provided. Reliable transportation is needed to be able to perform professional development services in partnering districts. (Temporary to regular).

Qualities and Capabilities

The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or relevant field required
• Master's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or relevant field required
• At least 4 years of teaching experience required at the elementary school level, both upper and lower experience preferred
• At least 2 years of math coaching or in an educational leadership position preferred
• Familiar and confident using Illustrative Mathematics curriculum, and other curriculum that are problem-based, student-centered, and exploratory in nature
• Familiar and confident using Engage New York/Eureka Math preferred
• Well-versed in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, as well as Massachusetts State Mathematics Frameworks
• Confident in using Google Drive (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms), Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
• Membership to at least one mathematics education organization - leadership role on the Board, preferred
• Ability to think from a systems-level, beyond the teacher lens to help partnering districts identify inequitable or unsustainable structures that impact students' mathematics achievement

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have:
