RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will work in the Department of Mathematics and will aid UL Lafayette faculty, staff and graduate students in designing and implementing statistical analysis plans related to doctoral theses and scholarly publications that target top-tier journals and/or funding agencies. The successful candidate also will work closely with broader research activities at the University and associated centers.
Qualified candidates should work independently and confidentially and must exercise a high level of judgment and initiative. The Statistics Consultant must possess a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field. In addition, qualified candidates must be able to anticipate problems and critical issues as they arise and be able to facilitate timely responses. For candidates demonstrating comparable experience and professional-level background in statistical consulting, an MS degree with five or more years of relevant experience will be an acceptable substitution.
The successful candidate must have a wide breadth of knowledge of statistical methodology and familiarity with statistics packages such as SAS, R, SPSS, etc. This should include extensive experience in at least one of these statistical packages. Moreover, a cross disciplinary focus in research preferences is preferred. The Consultant will enthusiastically collaborate with multiple teams and will handle correspondence and phone calls professionally and efficiently, including determining appropriate action.

The successful candidate will work in the Department of Mathematics and will aid UL Lafayette faculty, staff and graduate students in designing and implementing statistical analysis plans related to doctoral theses and scholarly publications that target top-tier journals and/or funding agencies. The successful candidate also will work closely with broader research activities at the University and associated centers.
Qualified candidates should work independently and confidentially and must exercise a high level of judgment and initiative. The Statistics Consultant must possess a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field. In addition, qualified candidates must be able to anticipate problems and critical issues as they arise and be able to facilitate timely responses. For candidates demonstrating comparable experience and professional-level background in statistical consulting, an MS degree with five or more years of relevant experience will be an acceptable substitution.
The successful candidate must have a wide breadth of knowledge of statistical methodology and familiarity with statistics packages such as SAS, R, SPSS, etc. This should include extensive experience in at least one of these statistical packages. Moreover, a cross disciplinary focus in research preferences is preferred. The Consultant will enthusiastically collaborate with multiple teams and will handle correspondence and phone calls professionally and efficiently, including determining appropriate action.

• Master's degree from an accredited college preferably in
Statistics, OR experimental psychology, applied research, or related
field with a minimum of 9 credit hours in quantitative methods.
• One year or more of post graduate data analysis experience.
• Experience using quantitative software such as SPSS (preferred), STATA, and/or R for data analysis.
• Experience cleaning data sets is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Some knowledge and experience with qualitative methodology (e.g.,
Action Research, etc.), software (e.g., NVivo, etc.) and analysis.
Knowledge in applied statistics (e.g., probability and statistical
inference, regression, quantitative research methodology, etc.).
• Experience and/or knowledge of psychometric theory (e.g., survey
construction, factor analysis, scoring and interpretation).
• Knowledge of geospatial software is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent analytic and critical thinking skills, writing skills, and ability to work within a team.
• An enthusiasm for research, and the ability and interest to learn new skills and take initiative as a project develops.
• Flexibility and ability to work within tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work
independently with initiative, and with colleagues from diverse
cultures.
• Experience presenting research results graphically and orally.
