What We Do
On any given day, millions of people interact with Mapbox’s global API infrastructure, while behind the scenes, hundreds of Mapbox developers continually deploy code, process petabytes of data, and improve the durability and efficiency of our product. Powering this engine is our Platform team: a group of developers who build and operate a first-class suite of dev-ops tools, run our self-serve deployment pipeline, provision a (https://blog.mapbox.com/we-switched-to-amazon-ecs-and-you-wont-believe-what-happened-next-6cadbbf7282c) shared computing layer for the company (https://blog.mapbox.com/we-switched-to-amazon-ecs-and-you-wont-believe-what-happened-next-6cadbbf7282c) , and advise Mapbox developers on optimizing cost, scale, and fault-tolerance on AWS. As Mapbox grows, the Platform team serves as the backbone of scaling our self-service and high-quality development on AWS. The team is a key player in helping Mapbox developers deliver an operationally excellent, high-availability product to our customers.
The team's scope of work includes tooling and systems for continuous integration and deployment, benchmarking, observability, incident response, database replication, cost monitoring, and more.

• Promote a culture of operational excellence by meticulously testing and monitoring our systems and code, and being on-call to support the health of our services
• Design systems and make decisions that will keep pace with the rapid growth of Mapbox
• Document your work and decision-making processes, and lead presentations and discussions in a way that is easy for others to understand
• Uphold a culture of collaboration, transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decisions

• Collaborate with search engineers and customer-facing teams to ensure data meets their expectations for accuracy.
• Grow and maintain deep knowledge of world places, ranging from countries at the higher level, all the way down to neighborhood and address level information across the world, with special attention to known high priority places as determined by enterprise and commercial customer demands and pain points.
• Evaluate third party data sets used in Mapbox’s global geographic database that backs the Mapbox search engine.
• Triage unexpected production search engine behavior reported by customers, and decipher between query, data, and search engine problems.
• Deploy data quality improvements and repairs to test and production systems, conduct quality assurance, monitor production systems for successful deployment
• Document your work and decision-making processes, and lead presentations and discussions in a way that is easy for others to understand.
• Uphold a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and data-driven decisions.
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
• 3+ years of working experience in GIS.
• A working knowledge of QGIS, PostGIS, or similar tools to perform spatial analysis and manage geographic data.
• Familiarity with basic geographic data concerns: file format, projection, datum, character encoding, precision, accuracy.
• Programming or scripting experience (Node.js, Python, Bash, PL/PGSQL).
• Interest in using & developing automated cloud workflows. Experience with Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or another cloud computing platform is a plus.
• Autonomy and proactivity around driving work to completion in the face of ambiguity.

• Architect, build and maintain high performance data pipelines to ingest real time location data at scale
• Collaborate with our Mobile teams to support rapid SDK iterations and support our growing data ingestion
• Collaborate with our Telemetry engineers to support the creation of anonymized telemetry data products like real time traffic and congestion
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
• Minimum of 4+ years experience in a data engineering or equivalent type role
• A highly autonomous and self-driven approach
• A solid engineering foundation and an interest in data
• Experience building and maintaining ingestion data pipelines
• Ability to communicate how complex systems work, and how tools can be applied to challenging data processing problems
• Understanding of web architecture, HTTP protocols and SSL
• Experience using tools like Hadoop, Spark and AWS

In addition to our core values (https://www.mapbox.com/about/values/) , which are not unique to this position and are necessary for Mapbox leaders:
• We value high-performing creative individuals who dig into problems and opportunities.
• We believe in individuals being their whole selves at work. We commit to this through supportive health care, parental leave, flexibility for the things that come up in life, and innovating on how we think about supporting our people.
• We emphasize an environment of teaching and learning to equip employees with the tools needed to be successful in their function and the company.
• We strongly believe in the value of growing a diverse team and encourage people of all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, abilities, and sexual orientations to apply.

Who We Are
Mapbox is all about precise location data and powerful developer tools to change the way we navigate the world. Our services are at the heart of our customers' businesses, be it BMW, Porsche, Toyota/Lexus, Rivian, GM, DPD, Doordash, Instacart, The Weather Channel, Strava or in total more than two million developers worldwide serving over 600 million users monthly. We provide powerful... routing engines, accurate, traffic-powered travel times, and intuitive turn-by-turn directions to help our customers build engaging navigation experiences. We give designers control over everything from colors and fonts, to 3D features and camera angles, to the pitch of the map as a car enters a turn. Our APIs, SDKs, and live updating map data give developers tools to build better mapping, navigation, and search experiences across platforms.
What We Do
Search has a lot of challenging areas for engineers to explore and grow. Moreover, Mapbox search is about location and it can be highly adjustable to the end-user use cases, like navigation routable points, along the route search, limited connectivity search, etc. We focus our efforts on relevance, geo-context optimisations, data conflation, merging offline and online solutions and measuring all of that with high-volume user feedback. Search is the key component of our solutions. Every route and every delivery starts with a search.

• Design and implement scalable services for our API and search engines, following and establishing best practices for deployment, resilience, and observability;
• Participate in end-to-end feature implementation within the larger search organization; review code and design documents, shepherd feature releases, and participate in an on-call rotation;
• Evaluate the quality, reliability, and capacity requirements of our user-facing search products and become a well-rounded owner of what you deliver;
• Work with product owners, sales engineering, and management to drive future product direction.

What We Do
The IT team has the twin responsibilities of making the technology that every Mapboxer uses as effective and frictionless as possible while also optimizing the performance of our corporate technology stack. We do that by promoting secure, repeatable processes, supporting data wherever it lives, and delivering self-service solutions whenever possible.
Everyone at Mapbox is a customer, a stakeholder, and a partner, often all at the same time. IT has a diverse range of functions, including incident response, laptop support, office networking, audio/visual administration, SaaS application integration, new hire orientation, and end-user training.
What You’ll Do

Reporting to the IT Manager, you’re primary responsibilities lie in the areas of IT and Security Operations, helping ensure the optimal health of systems and services—both on premises and in the cloud—while also assisting our employees with maintaining consistent, effective processes that optimize for usability and security.

Whether you’re watching the delivery of your grocery order on Instacart... looking at a gym on ClassPass, sending your snaps on Snapchat, tracking your personal best on Strava, monitoring your gas budget on Metromile, or checking today’s forecast on The Weather Channel, Mapbox is the location and maps within those apps. We’re changing how people move by live-mapping the world. We are the developer platform for location.
What We Do
The IT team has the twin responsibilities of making the technology that every Mapboxer uses as effective and frictionless as possible while also optimizing the performance of our corporate technology stack.
What You’ll Do
Mapbox is a global organization with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, and our IT team provides excellent support and services for our offices worldwide. As our first IT Administrator in Minsk, you will support a high-growth employee base in the region, as well as help maintain a follow-the-sun support model with your IT colleagues in other offices and develop solutions that contribute to the high velocity of Mapbox as a whole. Reporting to the IT Manager, you’re primary responsibilities lie in the areas of IT and Security Operations, helping ensure the optimal health of systems and services—both on premises and in the cloud—while also assisting our employees with maintaining consistent, effective processes that optimize for usability and security.
In this role, you can expect to:
• Collaborate with the rest of the IT and Security teams to manage inbound support requests and incidents, and resolve them according to our service level agreements.
• Provide superior customer support in-person, in our ticketing system, and via chat. Provide the skills for our employees to effectively use our corporate tools and become IT advocates.
• Support the smooth onboarding of new hires and manage the full employee IT lifecycle.
• Setup and maintain the in-office LAN, WiFi, audio-visual, conferencing, and computing systems.
• Identify trends in request tickets and help build automation and process improvements to make the system work better over time and intelligently reduce risk.
