Full Job Description
The Map Shop is a 30-year-old, family-run, e-commerce company. We print and ship maps all over the world.
We are looking for a talented team member to help in our order fulfillment and packing department. This will be a SEASONAL position that will begin now through at least mid December.
If you’re looking for a slow desk job, this isn’t for you. This is a fast-paced job with many responsibilities.
Primary duties include (but are definitely not limited to):
• Printing orders from the previous day and pulling them from multiple locations
• Assembling orders with multiple components using light tools
• Trimming maps for finishing and packaging maps for shipments
• Framing maps, laminating maps, and mounting maps
• Printing shipping labels for orders
• Making sure orders are staged and picked up by our carriers each day
We will provide on-the-job training but candidates are expected to learn independently in a fast-paced environment. We have over 7,000 products and the early weeks on the job will be challenging. If you get discouraged easily, this job isn’t for you. The experience you’ll gain from this position will take your career to the next level. You’ll learn how a growing e-commerce company prints and fulfills a high number of orders.
If you already had the position, in the last month you would have:
• Worked with Danny to set a schedule on which raised relief maps need to be boxed each morning. Danny is funny, you’ll like Danny.
• Worked with Mike in the finishing department to make sure we’re getting out all the necessary laminated, mounted, and framed maps. Mike makes hip-hop beats, you’ll like Mike.
• Worked with AJ to package and label maps for shipment. AJ is a guitarist, you’ll like AJ.
• Helped brainstorm new product ideas with the team
• Watched the process of coming up with a product idea, developing it, launching it, and watching the sales come in
• Attended two employee’s birthdays (we normally cater lunch then do something else fun)
• Joined everyone at team events (yeah, we hang out outside of work…gasp!)

This will be a seasonal, hourly position with 20-40 hours each week. The hourly rate is $15/hour. Hours will be Monday through Friday 9-5:30 pm.
We are a tight, small team at a growing company and your work will matter. We are focused on making the company a place where we’re excited to come each morning. We work hard then we roll a keg out into the Shop for Mappy Hours.
