The Director of Music Ministry plans & leads music for 2 weekend liturgies, all holy day liturgies, and special liturgies as needed (including All Souls evening prayer & First Communion). When requested will provide music for funerals and weddings for additional... compensation. The Director of Music Ministry will hold choir rehearsal outside of Mass times and conduct the choir during weekend liturgies and on holy days. Will attend staff meetings for liturgical planning. Will be responsible for scheduling maintenance of sound equipment and music equipment when needed. Successful candidates will be proficient in organ/keyboard & have strong vocal skills. Must be a practicing Catholic with a strong liturgical knowledge as evidenced by experience in liturgical music ministry and/or formal training credentials. Must have the ability to lead the congregation in praise through music and direct & recruit volunteer musicians (choir, cantors & other musicians). Will be familiar with the operation of professional sound equipment. This position is responsible for greeting, assisting visitors and directing external phone calls to the Parish staff. This person may also assist others in the office with special requests and manage various duties to maintain the front office.
Essential Job Functions
• Handle incoming calls on the main line and voicemail
• Greet visitors and provide assistance and direction re: meetings, appointments
• Set up mass intentions, prepare mass cards, pay priest weekly and maintain stipend account
• Sacramental records
o Set up Baptisms, collect proper paperwork and prepare Baptism Certificates
o Complete funeral planning sheet; email funeral contacts
o Coordinates resources for Sacrament of Marriage and maintains all related sacramental records; enters responses for Fully Engaged platform;
• Order parish office supplies as needed
• Serve as custodian for key log
• Maintain office equipment:
o postage machine – add postage, call for maintenance service as needed
o Copier
• Sort and distribute incoming mail
• Change the phone recorded mass times as necessary
• Oversee petty cash activity and replenish
• Ensure that evening staff are effectively utilized for clerical office tasks
o preparation of Wedding, new parishioner, baptism and funeral packets
• Manage Columbarium niche sales and ordering plaques as needed
• Assist with other jobs in the office as needed
Qualifications
• High school diploma
• Previous general office experience required; Parish office experience ideal.
• Proficient knowledge of Word & Excel.
• Strong communications and people skills.
