Summary:
A BVSD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate learning experiences and teaches the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilizes innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; and plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines.
• Utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades.
• Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations; implements procedures and routines that maximize student learning; respond to student misconduct in a respectful manner using restorative practices; actively seek a variety of perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; and communicate and involve parent/guardians in all aspects of their child’s education.
• Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices.
• Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.

• Supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.; and enforce safety and security standards set by the District.
• Follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures.

Required:
• Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with the appropriate endorsement in Math (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
• Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; willingness to communicate frequently with families regarding school curriculum and student progress.
• Knowledge of and deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on an IEP and/or learning English.
• * Data-driven evidence of closing the achievement gap and deep knowledge of instructional practices that will do so.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

The Department of Mathematics & Physics at Iona University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin in Fall 2024. This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position.
Iona University and the Department of Mathematics & Physics emphasize teaching excellence. The department offers an undergraduate major and minor in Mathematics, a minor in Physics, and support for... mathematics education degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. The department also offers courses in support of other undergraduate majors and the university core.Â
The department is committed to creating a student-centered learning environment and to engaging students in mathematics beyond the classroom. Faculty in the department use diverse teaching methods including the use of technology. Class sizes are small with all core classes having 25 or fewer students. Faculty members in the department pursue a broad range of scholarship including: traditional research in mathematics; research with undergraduates; the scholarship of teaching; textbook and software development; and the writing and implementation of internal, state, and national proposals and grants. Responsibilities:
Candidates are expected to participate, consistent with their expertise, in the teaching and ongoing development of the mathematics curriculum. Duties each semester include 12 hours teaching load with additional responsibilities in scholarship and service. Candidates are expected to maintain an active program of scholarly development, broadly defined in the department and university. Employment begins August 2024.

Faculty in the department use diverse teaching methods including the use of technology. Class sizes are small with all core classes having 25 or fewer students. Faculty members in the department pursue a broad range of scholarship including: traditional research in mathematics; research with undergraduates; the scholarship of teaching; textbook and software development; and the writing and implementation of internal, state, and national proposals and grants. Responsibilities:
Candidates are expected to participate, consistent with their expertise, in the teaching and ongoing development of the mathematics curriculum. Duties each semester include 12 hours teaching load with additional responsibilities in scholarship and service. Candidates are expected to maintain an active program of scholarly development, broadly defined in the department and university. Employment begins August 2024.

Responsibilities
• Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
• Helps build school’s faith community-demonstrates willingness to participate in and plan school religious and service activities.
• Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and incorporates school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current, thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and be able to communicate effectively with students; be able to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks as well as motivate student learning.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, reading professional educational publications, etc.
• Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level or PLCs, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Develops and uses effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluates student progress.
• Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self-direction and positive self- image; sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively as per school/diocesan policies.
• Creates a pleasant learning environment.
• Cooperates with school and diocesan administration; works effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.
• At all times demonstrates professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations.
• Maintains confidentiality of information, sound judgment in professional dress and general behavior.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.

• Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing
• Master’s Degree
• Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level
