Specifically, this person will play an instrumental role in developing the consumer-facing MaxPreps website and MaxPreps mobile apps. Responsibilities:

The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for all coaching related activities, developing and sustaining a successful program with a strong emphasis in skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and developing character. The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach's responsibilities are not limited to the playing season as events, season planning, player development; continuous academic monitoring and other activities are involved in the facilitation of a successful program. We are in our 5th year as a school and are eligible for full IHSAA tournament play the 2022-2023 school year. Our enrollment is around 550 students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Oversee all aspects of running an entire basketball program.
• Recruitment and vetting of qualified coaches; train and inform staff and encourage
professional development within the coaching staff.
• Delegate specific coaching duties to assistant coaches while promoting positive working
relationships and supervise implementation of said duties. Analyze staff effectiveness
and evaluate all assistants.
• Be a positive role model and exhibit model conduct and appearance on and off the
court.
• Communicate expectations, future plans, schedules, events, etc. with players and
parents.
• Monitor the academic progress of all players within the basketball program.
• Ensure the student-athlete has a well-rounded experience including enforcing discipline
while helping our student athletes learn necessities of life outside the realm of
basketball.
• Assist student-athletes in playing at the next level. Make connections with college
coaches and explain the process of eligibility and recruiting to players and parents.
• Work collaboratively with fellow coaches at Purdue Polytechnic Englewood to
encourage student-athletes to participate in multiple sports.
• Work collaboratively with Strength Coach and/or PE teachers to enhance athletic
development.
• Build a strong rapport with the players and coaches of the middle schools that feed into
Purdue Polytechnic Englewood. Working with Student Recruitment staff to set up
shadow days and school visits for prospective players.
• Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club,
parents, community, fans, administration and co-workers.
• Adhere to all school, conference and IHSAA policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all website and social media information is up to date and accurate while
maintaining accurate stats, records and results and dispersing them accordingly
(MaxPreps, VNN, IndyStar, etc.)
• Organize preseason parent meetings.
• Maintain equipment inventories and submit inventory and recommendations for
improvement before annual evaluation.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director and document all post season items including but not
limited to post season awards, changes to schedule, assistant coaches meeting and
individual player meetings.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility of the annual budget including but not limited to
collection of money for player packs, using approved vendors and working with the
Athletic Director on all purchases.
• Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Associates Degree required (Bachelor’s Preferred)
• Strong written and public speaking skills
