Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Grounds, the Groundskeeper performs, guides, and assists other employees in the planting, watering, weeding, spraying, fertilizing, mulching, edging, and clean-up of all annuals, perennials, shrub beds, and borders. This is a 40hr/week position eligible for the college's full benefits package. The hourly rate is $15/hr.

Responsibilities
• Mowing and landscaping of grounds using all types of power equipment
• Perform proper pest control measures as required
• Operate various types of equipment, including power mower, saws, edger, shears, light to medium weight trucks to pick up and deliver materials and supplies, and light or medium tractors and attachment used to maintain grounds as needed.
• Inspect equipment each day ensuring it is in safe and proper working order. Repair equipment or see that it is repaired by the proper mechanic.
• Have the knowledge of work methods, equipment and procedures to assure health and safety standards and precautions are in compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Perform snow removal
• Assist with set-ups and major campus events
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications
• Experience with landscaping, golf course or horticulture preferred.
• Must possess valid driver's license with two or less points.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Abilities
• Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
• Ability to work weekends, occasional holidays, and inclement weather.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure to operating machinery consistent with care of grounds.

Job Description:

The Director of Special Philanthropy Programs and Family Giving has overall responsibility for the development and execution of a program to cultivate, solicit, and steward affinity groups, alumni, parents and friends to support the College. This includes family philanthropy and any special initiatives that may be identified by the College in collaboration with the Vice President and Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement. The Director will be responsible for raising $700k - $900k annually (annual goal may be adjusted due to extenuating circumstances such as the economy but will be established prior to the start of each FY in coordination with the VP for Institutional Advancement and the AVP). The Director will also manage identified milestone reunion years and build reunion giving for identified reunions. This is a full-time position with a hiring range of $63-$65K.

Essential Functions
• Manage special initiative fundraising efforts as needed.
• Support the work of the Parent Family Council in coordination with the AVP for Alumni and Parent Engagement.
• Sets annual goals in conjunction with the AVP/Director of Development and develops a plan to achieve those goals.
• Manages a portfolio of 100-150 parents, alumni and friends, completing 10-15 visits per month.
• Discover, cultivate and solicit 12-30 gifts of $25,000 or more annually.
• Write and submit 30-50 proposals for College priorities annually and involve vice presidents and college faculty and administration where applicable.
• Manage reunion committees and communications for two assigned milestone reunion years.
• Participates in all prospect/tracking meetings of the Major Gifts team and participates in individual portfolio reviews in coordination with the Advancement Services team to build the special initiative program and giving.
• Steward donors by reviewing acknowledgement documents; preparing narrative and financial reports; communicating with donors on an ongoing basis via email, mail, phone, and face-to-face meetings; and coordinating meetings and site visits with College senior leadership where applicable.
• Support the College's constituent engagement model by assisting with joint efforts related to advancement, athletics and admissions and other integrated plans that impact multiple areas of the College.
• Attend and participate in college events as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the AVP/Director of Development.
• Flexible and available for evening, weekend or early morning events and meetings.
• The ability to travel as necessary.

Requirements:

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree with three years or more of demonstrated success in fundraising or a similar field, preferably in an educational setting, required.
• Demonstrated success in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects preferred.
• Strong analytical and independent decision-making capability required.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment critical for success.
• The ability to develop and execute a new program and the determination necessary to grow that program required.
• Valid state driver's license with two or less points and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• The ability to recruit, motivate, and direct volunteers required.
• Maturity, good judgement and the ability to hold confidences required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• The ability to balance concurrent tasks necessary.
• Strong computer skills and experience with business systems and social media strongly preferred.

Job Description:

The Accommodations Specialist for SASS reports directly to the Director of SASS and is responsible for working closely with students, staff, and faculty to provide equal access to courses, programs and services for students with disabilities. The Accommodations Specialist will ensure that accommodations are delivered thoroughly, effectively, and efficiently. This position requires strong administrative, communication, and technical skills, a positive/tactful demeanor, a professional presence, high energy, ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and academic deans. This is a 40hr/week position hiring at $18.90/hr.

Specific Responsibilities

Provide direct support to the SASS office team to enhance student academic success.
• Oversee the creation and distribution of accommodation letters for all students registered with SASS through the Accommodate system
• Approve Level of Service contracts and Semester Requests in the Accommodate system.
• Assist in facilitating the delivery of student accommodations and problem solve as needed for an alternate service pertaining to alternate seating, note taking, testing accommodations, etc.
• As the first contact in a crisis situation, assess and follow appropriate support protocols in a calm, efficient manner.
• Participate in staff development and quality assurance programs as provided by the College, Academic Affairs, and SASS.

Represent the SASS department to current, new, and prospective students as well as to faculty and staff.
• Respond to all telephone and email inquiries regarding SASS programs and the accommodations process - incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current students. Be able to explain the difference between the services provided in a 504 and IEP from those provided at the college level.
• Give office tours and overview of SASS services to prospective students
• Establish and foster relationships with internal departments who work collaboratively with SASS.

Coordinate all aspects of Assistive Technology
• Proficiently operate, trouble shoot, and train students and faculty on Assistive Technology used in the SASS Office, e.g. Kurzweil 3000, Livescribe pens, Dragon dictation software, Zoomtext, phone apps, and others.
• Be familiar with browser-based assistive technologies.
• Create and upload assistive technology instructional videos to Accommodate.
• Work with IT to ensure that all computers in SASS Testing Center have appropriate assistive technology and that the technology is kept up-to-date.
• Work with professors and students to incorporate aspects of Universal Design in the teaching and learning process, including but not limited to captioning, formatting, and Blackboard accessibility.

Manage all aspects of the Registration and Intake process
• Expedite the registration for all SASS students, including: approve all registration forms, reply to each registration with instructions for submitting documentation, email welcome packets to new registrants, maintain Excel roster for incoming students, schedule intake appointments, answer student and parent questions.
• Review incoming documentation to assess for required criteria and provide information regarding necessary additional documentation. Use knowledge of DSM V diagnoses and terminology to determine comprehensiveness of documentation.
• Maintain digital student records according to status: Active, LOA, Withdraw.

Coordinate student testing schedule and accommodations
• Collect and prepare exams, communicate with professors, deliver tests, notify of arrangement of specific accommodations.
• Reserve additional testing rooms and computer labs as needed.
• Coordinate scribes and readers for tests.
• Serve as scribe, reader, or testing center proctor when needed.
• Proficiently operate LanSchool monitoring software for test security.
• Convert paper tests into electronic format for student use on Kurzweil.
• Proficiently create, operate, and maintain testing accommodation request link.

Other duties
• Supervise and train student office workers.
• Assist in supervision and training of Graduate Assistants.
• Assist with student data collection and generate student letters and reports for the Director of SASS, including monthly numbers reports. Maintain Accommodate records for all SASS students.
• Create and run reports through Accommodate.
• Proficiently create, operate, and maintain notes request link.
• Manage and maintain billing records for all fee-based services.
• Manage inventory, orders and maintain office equipment and supplies, preparing all office requisitions and purchase orders and send to appropriate departments. Resolve issues related to purchasing, service, and repairs.
• Designated as a "mandatory reporter", otherwise known as a Campus Security Authority, to report any information about potential, active or previously occurring crime(s) on campus as defined through federal regulation to the Department of Campus Safety immediately upon learning about them.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree with DSS-related certificate preferred and/or direct experience.
• Minimum two years' experience working with and protecting confidential records.
• Understanding and ability to apply FERPA and confidentiality guidelines required.
• Must be able to triage concerns of parents and students.
• Understanding of ADA and ADAAA (2008) guidelines.
• Working knowledge of legal, cognitive, emotional, developmental, and ethical issues regarding students with disabilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• An understanding of assistive technologies for persons with disabilities, including some knowledge of Kurzweil, Livescribe, ZoomText, Dragon, etc.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
• Demonstrated ability to use varied approaches to serve the needs of culturally diverse, at-risk populations
• Demonstrated attention to detail, to include proofreading, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Must possess word processing and computer skills relative to desktop publishing and database management. Must also possess typing and data entry skills with demonstrated degree of accuracy.
• Good organizational skills essential; must be detail-oriented.
• Must be flexible and able to perform well under pressure with precise deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are a must in working with Academic Life staff and the McDaniel community (students, families, faculty and staff).
• Conversational American Sign Language (ASL) skills a plus.
