Primary Responsibilities:
• Work with the Director of Press and Communications to devise and secure maximum coverage for Met performances and related initiatives across a broad range of print, digital, and broadcast outlets and social media channels.
• Provide specialist opera knowledge that can inform repertoire driven stories to support the operas and artists presented by the Met.
• Liaise closely with external PR agencies, artist publicists, and managers to maximize media coverage for specific performances, artists, and other initiatives.
• Build and maintain excellent ongoing working relationships with journalists, critics, editors, bloggers, and commentators across local, national, and international media.

The role of the Usher is a part-time position on a performance call and as needed basis, dependent on the events scheduled in the opera house. The Usher position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”) Metropolitan Opera Association, Inc., and Local 32 BJ. Employees who become regular Ushers are required to join the union. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to Metropolitan Opera Association’s policies and the CBA.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Greet guests attending events and performances at The Met.
• Exemplify guest excellence characteristics in all interactions with patrons, guests, and fellow co-workers.
• Distribute event Playbills to guests as needed.
• Provide accurate information about an event or performance upon request, including directions within and outside of the Auditorium, and other activities within the Opera House or attractions on the Lincoln Center campus.
• Ensure performance house rules, such as entry, exit, late seating, mask compliance, photography etc. are adhered to, and maintain access control to performance area.
• Additional requirements include ability to use ticket scanning devices, read and interpret ticket information, distribute, and pick up Playbills and other printed materials, open, close, and hold entrance doors to the Hall, and use electronic communications equipment to stay in contact with Performance Managers and take direction as needed.

The Electric Department is responsible for all production lighting, sound, video, automation, and automated machinery as well as all facility electrical... infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Ensure safe and efficient operations of the Electrics Department.
• Hire and manage I.A.T.S.E. Local 1 stagehand employees as needed for rehearsals, performances, projects and special events.
• Assist in the creation of the budgets and staffing schedules for the New York Season repertoire, projects and special events. Provide recommendations for cost reductions.
• Work with Production and Finance Departments to ensure that department remains on budget, as per allocated staffing, supplies, and materials.
• Ensure all electrics department equipment is maintained in good safe working order and make recommendations for capital purchases. Maintain, track and maximize the material inventory.
• Attend regular Production Department coordination meetings and participate in various committees as required (e.g., Safety Committee).
• Keep current with established and developing industry standards and guidelines regarding safety as it pertains to stage electrics operations.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficient in MS Office products.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented and highly collaborative work style.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical and artistic concepts verbally and in writing.
• Problem solving skills, including the ability to synthesize and evaluate solutions.
• Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and problem solve in a high-pressure environment and work efficiently within given time constraints.
• Knowledge of standard opera repertory a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in theatrical technology or equivalent professional experience required.
Physical Demands:
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to work well in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work successfully with a variety of personality types.
• Must be able to learn and adapt to a changing work environment.
• Must be able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
