As our intrepid Marketing and Communications Intern, you will support Midtown Alliance’s digital media and PR strategies, including gathering, developing and scheduling content for distribution across all our channels.
This is an in-person, hands-on opportunity to learn from professionals in the destination marketing space, build your content marketing skills, and get practical experience running digital campaigns.
As a Midtown Alliance Marketing and Communications Intern, you will focus on three main areas:
1. Bring energy and a fresh perspective to our digital media platforms:
• Pair up with our Marketing and Communications Manager to create and schedule content on Midtown ATL digital media channels (emphasizing social media and our News Center) according to our established digital media strategy.
• Write and publish human interest multimedia stories related to Midtown Alliance and Midtown Atlanta for our MidtownATL.com News Center.
• Manage event content submissions for MidtownATL.com event calendar.
• Update the Midtown Alliance monthly marketing performance dashboard with metrics on projects and campaigns, including e-mail marketing (open rates and click-throughs), social media impressions and engagement, etc.
2. Become a Midtown Atlanta news expert:
• Research local, regional, and national media contacts covering the topics we care about.
• Idea PR opportunities for event and update coverage.
3. Lead special projects that push Midtown Alliance's marketing to the next level. This could look like:
• Researching destination marketing content, activations, and campaign opportunities.
• Participating in ongoing industry stalking sessions to learn what's new and emerging in the industry and among marketing professionals.
We’re looking for someone who:
• Is proactive, detail-oriented, reliable, flexible, and passionate about cities
• Possesses an emerging skill set as a communicator, with fundamental conceptual knowledge about:
• Marketing and communications

THE POSITION:
Midtown Alliance's supplemental public safety program - known as Midtown Blue - serves as a visible and uniformed presence in Midtown Atlanta to ensure a secure and welcoming environment for all who work in, live in and visit Midtown. Midtown Blue accomplishes this by patrolling the district on foot, bicycle and motor vehicles, as well as working in close partnership with local businesses, attractions, workers, residents, office buildings, residential properties and governmental and institutional security partners. This program, which balances law enforcement and quality of life, is regarded as one of the most complete programs of its kind in the southeast.
Midtown Blue's Public Safety Officers are the civilian security arm of the supplemental public safety program, which also employs a team of sworn Atlanta Police Department officers who work extra shifts in the district and have full arrest powers.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Enhance security and perception of safety in Midtown.
• Provide visible uniformed presence by patrolling designated areas.
• Positively interact with Midtown stakeholders to ensure a positive, safe and welcoming environment.
• Work to proactively prevent problems before they occur.
• Promptly address and resolve quality of life and public safety issues, ranging from homeless and panhandling issues to crime prevention and special events, supporting Midtown Blue, APD and other partners as needed.
• Complete daily reports and other assignments as specified by the shift supervisor.
• Operate two-way radio.
• Stay current on City of Atlanta codes and ordinances.
• Provide customer service to citizens and visitors by answering questions and addressing complaints.

The Project Manager for transportation is responsible for developing and designing projects, programs, and policies that accelerate Midtown’s transition to a people-first district. This role is responsible for leading our . The goal of this program is to support the continued development of Midtown Atlanta as a transit-oriented, pedestrian friendly environment by reducing the number of trips made by motor vehicle.
We seek to accomplish this by encouraging participation in climate friendly modes of transportation like transit, walking, bicycling, ridesharing, and teleworking.
This program provides consulting services to employers that encourages the adoption of commuter benefits such as subsidized transit passes for employees, encourages commuters to embrace the use of alternative transportation through awareness and incentives, and works with building managers to help promote and encourage the use of transportation alternatives.
This position will develop annual work plans, plan and execute programs and campaigns that increase alternative mode use, ensure compliance with grant requirements, track and report progress, and manage the program budget.
The position will manage two staff members and reports to the Director of Transportation & Sustainability.
Responsibilities Include :
• Administering the program including managing and developing staff, creating an annual work plan, overseeing the program budget, grant management, and working collaboratively on strategic decisions with the Director of Transportation
• Engaging with Midtown businesses and properties to develop customized commute options plans and encourage participation
• Educating commuters on transportation options, primarily through event and campaigns
• Developing and pursuing policy changes in coordination with the City of Atlanta that help us reach our goals
• Creating and implementing a successful communications and marketing strategy for the program as a whole and for specific promotions and campaigns
