About The Position

The Milken Institute is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented business analyst with expertise in financial reporting and data analysis to join the Institute’s strategy team. In this role, this individual will work closely with the rest of the strategy team and others at the Institute to gather, analyze, and interpret financial data to support decision-making processes and ensure accurate and timely reporting. The role reports to the head of strategy and will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Institute’s Finance department, department heads, and senior leadership. This position plays a crucial role in delivering financial reports, data-informed analyses, and insights and recommendations that will help guide business decisions. We’re looking for an individual who is poised to apply strong analytical skills, nonprofit organizational acumen, and clear communication of complex information to enhance our financial reporting processes and provide senior leadership with concise, accurate, and valuable business intelligence to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities
• As a member of the strategy team, develop reporting processes and structures, aligning reporting, analyses, insights, and recommendations to the mission of the Institute.
• Conduct financial analysis and reporting activities, including preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Collaborate with the Finance department to gather and analyze financial data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
• Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable reports and analyses.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate data quality and integrity, implementing necessary measures to address any discrepancies or issues.
• Communicate complex financial concepts and analysis results to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, facilitating understanding and informed decision-making.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or nonprofit management (with a concentration in financial management). An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus.
• 4-6 years of experience as a business or financial analyst, focusing on financial reporting and data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and financial statement analysis.
• Proficiency in using financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel, SQL, data visualization tools); Experience with NetSuite and Concur is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and identify key insights.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills to understand the needs of different stakeholders and be able to act accordingly.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage and prioritize concurrent responsibilities and proactively manage to meet deadlines.

About The Center For Public Health (CPH)

The Center for Public Health (CPH) develops research, programs, and initiatives designed to envision and activate sustainable solutions to better health for individuals and communities worldwide. About The Position

In this newly created role, the Associate Director will advance CPH’s mission by managing primarily a growing portfolio of projects for the Prevention and Chronic Disease pillar. This CPH focus area is an all-encompassing priority that addresses how chronic diseases are understood and managed, how populations are impacted, and how issues related to public health infrastructure and financing can affect health and well-being. The leader will represent CPH on pillar content areas while supporting Center programming through specific projects and MI events. The Associate Director will apply exemplary analysis, project management, and communication skills to drive the development and execution of an array of program deliverables from concept to completion, including amplification to targeted external audiences. This position will work collaboratively across CPH and MI’s matrix environment to bring forward the Center’s vision by executing strategic and operational goals.

Responsibilities
• Conduct research and thematic analysis on leading prevention and chronic disease issues and other CPH priority areas to identify trends, system barriers, and policy opportunities to propel ecosystem change.
• Manage a broad array of activities throughout a project cycle including partner interviews and engagement, survey development and implementation, thought leader cultivation, and roundtable facilitation.
• Lead and support the development of a range of written products including white papers, action and issue briefs, research summaries, grant applications, reports, blogposts, slide decks, and amplification materials.
• Build relationships with external stakeholders including industry, government, non-profit, academia, philanthropy, and other influential leaders.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and creative work environment.

About The Position

The Milken Institute is seeking a Director to support the Milken Institute’s Business and Program Development Center Advancement team, with a focus on individual fundraising. For the candidate with strong intellectual curiosity, extraordinary work ethic and drive to achieve, this is an opportunity to work with the Institute’s philanthropy programs and become a key player in an entrepreneurial, growing and dynamic organization involved in some of the most important issues.

This position will report to the Business and Program Development team and cultivate and steward ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) philanthropists in order to engage individuals in meaningful program engagement Institute programs. The Director will be instrumental in advancing the already strong growth of philanthropy programming and expanding its reach into new philanthropic communities. The role will work closely with colleagues across the Business and Program Development, Programmatic Pillars, Events, Communications, and international teams and serve on the front lines working with UHNW philanthropists and engagement across the broader Milken Institute.

Responsibilities
• Leading efforts to engage funders for Milken Institute Health, Finance, and Philanthropy. Targeted growth areas include, but are not limited to, crafting philanthropic vision and strategies, mobilizing capital for prize competitions, investing in public health and biomedical areas, and creating access to capital
• Closing and stewarding major gifts for the programmatic pillars of the Institute
• Managing relationships with key prospects and funders and coordinating all Milken Institute interactions with those partners
• Working across Milken Institute, Programmatic Pillars, Events, Business Development, and other centers and department teams to ensure partners are effectively integrated into convenings and other Milken Institute programs

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• 10+ years of experience in fundraising, business development, partnership building, major gifts, and/or wealth management
• Experience building relationships with UHNW philanthropists that have resulted in transformative and strategic gifts
• Professional gravitas/executive presence that allows you to quickly gain the respect of UHNWIs and key stakeholders
• Ability to inspire enthusiasm about the mission of the Milken Institute and its programmatic initiatives
