Your responsibilities:
• Assisting the project managers in conducting market research and identifying new prospects and leads.
• Identifying potential foreign investors with the help of different (desk research) sources.
• Approaching these companies to set up meetings and calls.
• Putting together tailor-made pitches, information packages and promotion material, aiming to inform clients of the advantages of the Netherlands.
• Making use of independent databases.
• Engaging in business intelligence activities.
• Attending networking events when relevant.
• Assisting with the... organization of our own events.

Functie-eisen

You are an ambitious student who studies international business, marketing, international economics, international relations, or a comparable major.

Other qualifications:
• You are fluent in spoken and written English and Dutch.
• You are interested in international business and working in an international environment.
• You are flexible and you like to take initiative.
• You pay attention to detail.
• You need to have the Dutch nationality, and during the entire internship you will have to be registered as a student at a Dutch university (WO/HBO).

Please note that we do not accept research internships; you will be working within our team on a full-time basis.

Assignment

During the internship, alongside of the above-mentioned tasks, you will be working on your own assignment. Questions that you will be looking at are e.g. the importance of different factors in the Dutch business climate for foreign investors to consider the Netherlands, or how changing (fiscal or financial) regulation in the Netherlands is affecting our current investors. The exact theme and description of the assignment will be defined before the start of your internship, where we will take into account your personal interests and (if applicable) requirements from your studies.

The office of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency is located at the Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Manhattan, New York. You will be working from this office five days per week.

We are currently looking for
• Adviser, Climate Change NGO Partnerships (2 year fixed term)
• Senior Adviser, Climate Change NGO Partnerships (2 year fixed term)

The Climate Change roles will focus on managing and delivering the Climate Finance for Community Resilience Programme , which aims to enhance resilience at the community level by ensuring climate finance is reaching the community and supporting community mitigation and adaptation.

The NGO Partnerships Adviser will manage a portfolio of around $35m worth of activities across four of our largest multi-year NGO partnerships.

These are varied roles in which you will:
• Lead on NGO stakeholder engagement, and manage activities and programmes through partnerships with NewZealand NGOs
• Manage all aspects of activity management including leading design, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and learning, financial accountability, and identifying and managing risks
• Draft high quality business cases and activity assessments
• Assess budgets and financial reporting, and manage contracts
• You may be required to travel periodically including to developing countries
• The Senior Adviser role will be required to take a lead in programme level reporting for the climate work

The appointment salary range for these positions are inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution and depending on level of experience.

• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience
• At least 5 years’ project/programme management experience (7 years’ for the senior adviser role)
• Budget and financial forecasting/reporting experience
• International development and/or Pacific experience/knowledge
• Climate change related knowledge is particularly valuable for the Senior Adviser Climate Change Partnerships
• Relationship management experience with a range of stakeholders
